About Us

C5 Children’s Schoolis a non-profit organization celebrating 50 years of providing high quality childcare and preschool services to the children of San Francisco. Our mission is to provide developmentally appropriate programming in early childhood education by creating nurturing, educational services that are designed to help children become caring and competent learners, critical thinkers, and productive community members.

Scope of Work

The Site Supervisor oversees all day-to-day operations at our PUC (Public Utilities Commission) building site in the Tenderloin neighborhood. Here, we serve up to 81 children and have five (5) active classrooms. Three (3) of these classrooms exist under our infant/toddler license while the other two (2) fall under our preschool license.

The Site Supervisor ensures the maintenance of a comprehensive, high-quality and developmentally appropriate childcare program with standards set by the Directors of the school. This is a management position and will be supervised by our Executive Director, as well as our Director of Operations.

This is a leadership position, and all candidates are required to have the willingness and ability to be “the face of the center,” handling day-to-day issues and communication involving children, parents, teachers, staff members, and other stakeholders.

Please note that this is a year-round program.

Roles & Responsibilities

Help recruit, orient, train, develop, and directly supervise teachers and key program support staff;
Coordinate and schedule classroom coverage, maintaining legally required ratios;
Maintain licensing regulations and all other programmatic contractual obligations;
Provide tours for prospective families and help orient new families;
Develop and implement systems to ensure the provision of high quality childcare standards consistent with both state licensing and organizational standards;
Provide reflective supervision for all teachers;
Assist teachers with ongoing assessments for children and families;
Assist staff in clarifying program goals and maintaining a forward looking, positive perspective about the program;
Represent C5 Children’s School in the broader community by attending trainings, seminars, and workshops, as needed;
Adhere to strong ethical standards that include confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment;
Conduct performance appraisals (PAs) with teachers on an annual basis and in consultation with the school’s Directors;
Assist staff with creating and maintaining positive learning environments for children and families;
Create goals and objectives for each classroom;
Participate and help lead six (6) professional development days (PDDs) throughout the calendar year;
Work cooperatively with parents and third parties to best support children;
Enforce required licensing regulations;
Create and maintain children’s files;
Assist Directors and administrators with additional duties as needed;

Required Qualifications

Must have an active Site Supervisor or Program Director permit;
Must have at least three (3) college credits in infant/toddler development/care or a willingness to do complete this requirement immediately upon hire;
Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children;
Ability to read, write, and converse in English fluently with bilingual educators welcome to apply;
Knowledge of play-based learning, project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, child-led discovery, and positive approaches to challenging behavior;
Knowledge AND experience working with children with different needs;

Compensation & Benefits

Expected salary range of $85-90K annually;
Free medical, dental, and vision insurance, beginning the first of the month following the new hire’s start date;
Participation in our 403(b) retirement program with up to 2% matching after 90 days of employment;
Four (4) pre-determined weeks of paid vacation. Namely one (1) week in March/April, two (2) weeks at the end of December/beginning of January, and one (1) week corresponding with the fourth of July;
Approximately eleven (11) additional paid holidays;
Thirteen (13) additional PTO days provided each January. New employees beginning in a month other than January will have the number of days prorated upon their hire. After successful completion of two (2) years of employment, employees receive eighteen (18) days of PTO annually;
Pre-taxed commuter benefit program;
$350 annual Employee Improvement Stipend meant to support teacher’s professional development or health & wellness. The amount increases to $500 after two (2) successful years of employment;
