Field Operator - Fitness App Testing

Location: San Jose, CA (On-site)

Travel: Local travel throughout the Bay Area required

Are you someone who enjoys staying active, working with technology, and spending your day out in the field instead of behind a desk?

JSAN Consulting is seeking Field Operators to support one of the world's leading technology companies by collecting real-world data used to improve next-generation mobile applications and fitness technologies.

As a Field Operator, you'll participate in hands-on testing of emerging technology while working alongside Technical Field Specialists, Project Managers, and Engineering teams. Your work will directly contribute to improving products used by millions of people around the world.

About the Role

The Field Operator is responsible for executing field-based testing activities, collecting high-quality data, and supporting pilot operations in real-world environments.

This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, adaptability, and a willingness to work in a physically active environment while following detailed testing procedures.

Field Operators work closely with Technical Field Specialists to ensure testing activities are completed accurately, safely, and on schedule.

This position is based out of our San Jose, California office and supports field operations throughout the Bay Area.

Workdays frequently begin early in the morning, often between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM, depending on client testing schedules.

This is not a traditional office position.

A significant portion of each workday is spent in the field supporting the testing of fitness and activity tracking applications and mobile technologies.

Field Operators actively participate in real-world testing scenarios while collecting operational data from mobile devices and wearable technologies.

Candidates should be comfortable:

Walking up to 10 miles per day
Hiking on trails and uneven terrain
Running or jogging during scheduled testing sessions
Cycling while operating testing devices
Standing and walking for several consecutive hours
Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Carrying mobile devices, accessories, and testing equipment
Traveling between multiple testing locations throughout the day
Following structured testing procedures while remaining physically active

Candidates who enjoy hiking, running, cycling, outdoor recreation, fitness training, endurance activities, or similar active lifestyles are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Field Operations

Collect, extract, and process data accurately using proprietary software and testing tools.
Execute field testing according to established workflows and testing procedures.
Participate in real-world testing activities involving mobile devices and fitness applications.
Install, configure, and test mobile devices and associated hardware.
Follow detailed testing protocols while ensuring data quality.
Report testing progress and operational status throughout the day.
Support Technical Field Specialists during pilot operations.
Identify recurring issues and communicate observations to Operations Leadership.
Escalate operational risks, dependencies, or technical concerns promptly.
Assist with inventory management, device preparation, charging, and equipment organization.
Help maintain operational readiness of testing equipment.
Represent JSAN and our client professionally during field activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to walk up to 10 miles per day during testing activities.
Comfortable participating in physical activities required for testing fitness applications.
Valid U.S. driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts, with early morning start times as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Experience using Android and/or iOS devices.
Familiarity with mobile applications and consumer technology.
Previous experience in field operations, merchandising, customer service, hospitality, retail, logistics, or similar customer-facing environments.
Experience working outdoors or in physically active roles.
Experience following standardized operating procedures.
Experience using Google Workspace or Microsoft Office.

Background & Driving Requirements

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

No DUI convictions within the past five years.
No hit-and-run convictions.
No driver's license suspensions within the past five years.
No more than two moving violations or chargeable accidents within the past four years.
Valid U.S. driver's license (temporary permits not accepted).
International drivers must obtain a U.S. driver's license within 90 days of employment.
Must successfully pass all required background screening requirements.

Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
