Full Job Description

We are a growing boutique bakery specializing in custom cakes, artistic desserts, and allergy-friendly treats. We are seeking a creative, dependable, and experienced Cake Decorator & Bakery Support Associate to join our team part-time.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both the artistic side of cake decorating and the fast-paced environment of a creative bakery. The role includes decorating custom orders, assisting with customer pickups, maintaining bakery organization, and supporting daily production operations.

We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, positive, organized, and excited to grow alongside a small business that values quality, creativity, and teamwork.

Schedule Requirements

This is a part-time position requiring availability for the following shifts:

Wednesdays
Fridays
Saturdays

Typical shifts range from approximately 5–7 hours, depending on production volume and seasonal demand. Weekend availability is required.

Key Responsibilities Cake Decorating & Production

Decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and desserts using buttercream, fondant, piping, and other finishing techniques
Execute custom designs based on inspiration photos and bakery standards
Assist with tiered cakes, specialty desserts, and holiday production
Maintain consistency, cleanliness, and attention to detail across all orders
Work efficiently while meeting production deadlines

Customer Pickup & Front Support

Assist customers during pickups in a professional and friendly manner
Help ensure orders are packaged, labeled, and prepared accurately
Maintain a welcoming and organized front-of-house environment
Communicate clearly with team members regarding order readiness and customer needs

Prep & Bakery Support

Prepare buttercream, fillings, cake components, and other production items
Portion ingredients and organize daily prep needs
Assist with maintaining inventory and notifying management of low supplies
Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment

Teamwork & Professionalism

Contribute positively to a collaborative bakery environment
Maintain professionalism during busy production days and holiday rushes
Follow bakery systems, timelines, and quality standards
Support food safety and allergen-sensitive handling procedures

Qualifications Required

Minimum 2 years of professional cake decorating experience
Experience with buttercream work, piping, fondant detailing, and tiered cakes
Strong time management and organizational skills
Must be available Saturdays and able to work 2–3 shifts/week
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Preferred

Experience in boutique bakery, wedding cake, or custom cake production
Experience with vegan or allergen-friendly desserts
Culinary or pastry education/training
Comfortable interacting with customers and handling pickups professionally
SerSafe or safety training
