Overview

Position Summary

The CNC Machinist II is responsible for operating and setting up CNC lathes and/or mills to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and work instructions, while maintaining safety, quality, productivity and efficiency standards. This position independently performs machine setups, tool offsets, and minor program verification while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Independently operate and set up CNC lathes and/or mills.
Perform complete machine setups and changeovers.
Install tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
Establish and adjust tool length, wear, and geometry offsets.
Verify setup accuracy and make process adjustments.
Perform first article inspections and in-process inspections.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
Verify dimensional accuracy and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Assist in proving out programs and identifying potential issues.
Troubleshoot machining problems and implement corrective actions.
Perform machine breakdown and preparation for subsequent production jobs.
Document setup sheets, tooling information, and production records.
Monitor machine performance to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Train and mentor less-experienced operators.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace using 5S principles.
Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures.

· Work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends and extended hours to meet production demands.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.
3-5 years of CNC machining experience - aerospace, medical or tight-tolerance experienced preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience performing machine setups on CNC lathes and/or mills.

Technical Skills

Proficient in tool offsets and machine adjustments.
Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.
Experience with precision measuring equipment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-12+ hours).
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, and climb as needed.
Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements, and manual tasks.
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, oils, coolants, and temperature fluctuations.
Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, and extended shifts as needed.

Pay Range: $33.00-$39.00 /hr
