Full Job Description

Decks by DeCamp builds premium deck and outdoor living projects across the Central Coast. About half our work is technically detailed ground-level builds — composite and PVC systems, cable and glass railing, low-voltage lighting, motorized pergolas, specialty special-order components. The other half is fully engineered: elevated structures on coastal and hillside lots with deep foundations, large timber framing, soils reports, and structural special inspections. We need a Field Operations Manager who can run both kinds of work at the same time without dropping either.

This is the key role between our estimator and our field crews. You’ll own what happens from the moment a job is sold to the moment it’s cleaned up and the customer is happy.

What you’ll do:

Run 3–5 active projects at once across multiple crews and subcontractors, with more queued up behind them — you always know what’s happening today and what’s coming in two weeks

Manage and support our foremen: coordinate manpower, sequence the work, keep crews productive, and back them up when something unexpected hits

Own job startup — review the full plan set, understand the engineering, line up subs and special-order materials, and catch problems before they reach the field

Run permitting and inspections end to end, including special inspections and engineer coordination, and represent the company professionally in front of inspectors

Serve as the customer’s main point of contact during construction — set expectations, communicate proactively, handle issues calmly, and keep them confident in us through the whole build

Keep communication tight between the field, the office, and the client so nothing falls through the cracks

What we’re looking for:

Real construction management experience running multiple permitted jobs simultaneously — this isn’t a step up from running one crew

Fluent reading structural plans and navigating permitting, inspections, and engineer/sub coordination

Strong with people on both sides: can lead experienced foremen without micromanaging, and can hold a professional, reassuring relationship with demanding residential clients

Organized enough to hold five jobs in your head and accountable enough that we never have to chase you

Willing to get on a job site and into the details — you’re not on the tools daily, but you know the work cold and the crews respect that you do

You’ll do well here if you’re:

A superintendent or experienced construction/project manager looking for a role where your judgment actually drives the outcome — or a top-tier lead ready to step into full operational ownership. Either way, you’re someone who takes pride in jobs that finish clean, on schedule, and with a customer who’d hire us again.

Compensation & schedule:

$105,000–$120,000 salary DOE, plus performance bonus
