About Us

Furman's is a family owned multi-unit restaurant operator that manages 17 Burger King locations.

Staff Accountant

Duties:
- Prepare and analyze quarterly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements to assist CPA firm with quarterly tax estimate payments, also preparation of other various monthly financial reports as needed.

- Perform fiscal year-end close process

- Assist CPA firm in financial audits to ensure compliance with GAAP

- Assist Management with budgeting and forecasting activities

- Assist CPA firm with various financial reports and other requested information associated with the preparation and filing of tax returns and 1099 reports.

- Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial data and analysis for decision-making purposes

- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures

- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting standards

- Book payroll related journal entries and coordination with payroll staff on adjustments that may occur regarding retuned checks, garnishments and stale dated checks.

- Posting of entries in QuickBooks for the company that is financially managed through QuickBooks.

- Coordination with CPA firm on the update of Fixed Assets and the associated recording of depreciation.

- Utilization of various online reports and report portals.

- Coordination with Accounts Payable staff on various payable/receivable items and monthly Royalty/Advertising payments.

- Coordination with the accounting software vendor (OSAS) as needed related to various statements and custom reports used by the organization. Also, for the closing of the fiscal year in the system and opening of the next fiscal year.

- Preparation of monthly Food/Paper cost report and follow up with managers and owner.

- Periodic update of automated Excel sheets which utilize data query connections to the accounting system.

- Reconcile monthly bank statements to general ledger

- Perform necessary general ledger account and other reconciliations

- Update, verify and maintain accounting journals and ledgers and other financial records

- Find and use accounting data to resolve accounting problems and discrepancies

- Perform other administrative tasks as required

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting principles and practices.

- Strong knowledge of Excel including use of pivot tables and external data query connections.

- Experience with or ability to quickly learn QuickBooks.

- Experience with financial analysis.

- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements.

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis.

- Ability to identify process improvements.

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

- 5 years experience in financial accounting required

-Experience with Open Systems Accounting Software (OSAS) is a plus

- Experience with QuickBooks is a plus

- Experience with financial auditing procedures is a plus

-Experience within the retail, restaurant, or similar industry that includes multiple locations is helpful
