Actively Hiring in Savannah: Experienced Veterinary Assistant – Pet Care Advocate who loves helping pets

Neighborhood Vet Dog & Cat Wellness Clinic – Savannah, GA
Pay: $17–$23/hour, based on experience and performance
Schedule: Full-time
Tuesday–Thursday: 9:30 AM–Close, usually around 6:00 PM
Friday–Saturday: 9:30 AM–Close, usually around 3:00 PM

We are located in Savannah’s beautiful Victorian District, near Forsyth Park, in one of the friendliest neighborhoods in the city. Our clients are a special part of what makes this clinic enjoyable — they love their pets, appreciate thoughtful care, and are excited to be involved in their pet’s wellness.

A Different Kind of Veterinary Clinic Owned By Dr. Kinsey

Neighborhood Vet is a modern, dog and cat wellness clinic built around friendly service, low-stress handling, transparent pricing, and client education.

We are intentionally different from many traditional veterinary clinics. Our appointments, treatments, and patient care are performed in front of pet owners, so clients feel informed, included, and confident in their pet’s care. We focus on primary care, preventative care, minor illness visits, skin and ear care, diagnostics, and long-term relationships with pets and their people.

Our clinic is growing, and we are looking for an experienced veterinary professional who wants to be part of building something thoughtful, organized, and meaningful from the ground up.

This is not an entry-level position.

We are looking for someone confident, capable, and ready to be the doctor’s right hand in the exam room.

Who This Role Is For

This role is for someone who already knows how to work in a veterinary clinic and enjoys being hands-on, client-facing, and highly involved in the appointment flow.

What You’ll DoLead Exam Room Flow

You will help keep appointments smooth, organized, and client-focused by:

Reviewing patient records before visits
Taking thorough histories
Preparing the room, patient, and client before the doctor enters
Presenting estimates and treatment plans clearly with the doctor’s guidance
Explaining visit flow, diagnostics, treatments, medications, and next steps
Keeping the appointment moving while making sure the client feels heard and supported
Helping pets feel as comfortable and safe as possible throughout the visit

Provide Hands-On Patient Care

You should be confident performing or assisting with:

Low-stress restraint for dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments
Blood draws
Vaccines and injections
Sample collection
In-house lab work and sample preparation
Medication preparation
Ear and skin treatments
Minor procedures and wound care assistance
Patient comfort, cleanliness, and safety during each visit

Most of our care is performed with the pet owner present, so professionalism, confidence, and gentle handling matter every day.

Communicate With Clients

At Neighborhood Vet, client education is part of patient care. You will help clients understand what is happening, why it matters, and what comes next.

This includes:

Speaking with clients in a polished, calm, and compassionate way
Reinforcing preventative care and medical recommendations
Answering appropriate client questions clearly and accurately
Using phone calls, texts, emails, and in-person communication professionally
Helping create an experience that feels transparent, organized, and trustworthy

Maintain Excellent Medical Records

Strong documentation is a major part of this role. You will be expected to:

Accurately document treatments, findings, diagnostics, and client communication
Keep records complete, clear, and professional
Follow through on details so nothing falls through the cracks
Use veterinary software and digital tools efficiently

Support the Team

As an experienced Pet Care Advocate, you will also help raise the standard for the team by:

Modeling calm, professional, efficient behavior
Supporting and mentoring less-experienced team members
Helping maintain clean, organized, well-stocked spaces
Adapting to new workflows and technology as the clinic grows
Pitching in where needed to support patients, clients, and coworkers
Participating in occasional community events or outreach

Required Experience and Skills

To be considered for this role, you should have:

At least 2 years of hands-on veterinary experience
Strong dog and cat handling skills
Confidence with blood draws, vaccines, injections, lab work, sample preparation, and basic treatments
Excellent verbal communication skills
Comfort working directly with clients during exams and treatments
Strong attention to detail
Ability to multitask while staying calm and organized
A team-focused attitude
Willingness to accept feedback and keep improving
Comfort learning veterinary software, technology, and digital communication tools
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for long periods, kneel, bend, and move throughout the day
Availability for the listed schedule, including Fridays and Saturdays
Excitement for community events and outreach
