Full Job Description

The Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional is an integral member of the Golf Professional Staff and supports the daily operations of the Golf Department during the club’s peak season. This hands-on position requires a motivated, professional, and member-focused PGA Member who demonstrates initiative, dependability, flexibility, and a strong work ethic.

The successful candidate will assist with golf shop operations, tournaments, member events, practice facilities, outside operations, teaching, playing golf with members, and other areas of the golf operation as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

Golf Operations

·Assist with daily golf shop and golf course operations.

·Support opening and closing procedures.

·Assist with tee sheet management, member charges, telephone and email communication, and special requests.

·Maintain a professional, organized, and member-ready golf shop.

·Communicate relevant golf and course information to members, guests, and staff.

·Work collaboratively with the Golf Professional Staff, Golf Shop Merchandiser, Outside Operations, Golf Course Maintenance, Food and Beverage, and other club departments.

·Support the full scope of daily golf operations throughout the season.

Tournament Operations

·Assist with tournament registration, pairings, flights, scorecards, cart assignments, signage, scoreboards, and participant communication.

·Support tournament setup, scoring, result verification, prizes, payouts, and post-event responsibilities.

·Assist with Club Championships, Member-Guest events, men’s and ladies’ events, and couples events.

·Apply knowledge of the Rules of Golf and support pace-of-play monitoring.

·Coordinate with other departments during tournaments and special events.

Member and Guest Experience

·Provide a welcoming, professional, and attentive experience for members and guests.

·Become familiar with member preferences and club programs.

·Respond to questions and requests in a courteous and timely manner.

·Maintain a visible and approachable presence throughout the golf operation.

·Play golf with members to build relationships and support the member experience.

·Represent Indian River Club professionally at all times.

Golf Shop and Merchandising Support

·Assist with point-of-sale transactions, member charges, special orders, and daily golf shop responsibilities.

·Provide knowledgeable merchandise assistance to members and guests.

·Help receive, price, tag, stock, and organize merchandise.

·Support inventory counts, displays, seasonal shop transitions, and retail events.

·Work collaboratively with the Golf Shop Merchandiser.

Instruction and Player Development

·Provide private instruction, clinics, and playing lessons.

·Support men’s and ladies’ instructional programs.

·Promote participation in club golf programs and activities.

·Assist with club fitting and Rules of Golf education when appropriate.

Technology and Software

·Proficiency with Golf Genius tournament management software.

·Proficiency with the ForeTees reservation and tee sheet system.

·Experience with JONAS POS is preferred.

·Working knowledge of the GHIN Handicap System and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

·PGA Member in good standing.

·Private club or golf operation experience.

·Knowledge of tournament operations and the Rules of Golf.

·Strong communication, organization, and member-service skills.

·Professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for a private club.

·Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work effectively as part of a team.

·Demonstrated initiative, dependability, attention to detail, and follow-through.

·Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, and extended hours during the season.

Work and Physical Requirements

·Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

·Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

·Ability to perform the physical responsibilities associated with daily golf operations.

·Ability to adapt to the scheduling needs of tournaments, member events, and club operations.
