Full Job Description

Position Overview

The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery department, ensuring the highest standards of quality, freshness, presentation, customer service, food safety, and productivity. This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage a team, maintain production standards, control inventory and waste, and ensure the bakery consistently delivers the quality and traditional products Livoti’s Old World Market is known for.

The ideal candidate is an experienced bakery professional and strong leader who takes pride in their craft, leads by example, and thrives in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Bakery Operations

Oversee all daily bakery operations, including production, preparation, decorating, stocking, merchandising, and closing procedures.
Ensure all bakery products meet Livoti’s standards for quality, freshness, consistency, taste, and presentation.
Plan and coordinate daily and weekly production based on sales, inventory, holidays, promotions, and customer demand.
Ensure proper rotation, dating, labeling, storage, and handling of all bakery products and ingredients.
Monitor product levels and ensure cases and displays remain fully stocked and visually appealing.
Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and sanitary bakery at all times.
Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance of bakery equipment.

Team Leadership & Management

Recruit, train, coach, and develop bakery team members.
Establish clear expectations for productivity, quality, attendance, customer service, and workplace conduct.
Create and manage employee schedules based on business needs and production requirements.
Assign daily responsibilities and monitor employee performance throughout the shift.
Lead by example and maintain a hands-on presence in the bakery.
Address performance, attendance, and operational issues promptly and professionally.
Foster a positive, respectful, team-oriented work environment.

Production & Inventory

Maintain appropriate inventory levels of ingredients, packaging, and finished products.
Monitor ordering and communicate product needs to management and purchasing teams.
Control food costs, portioning, waste, spoilage, and overproduction.
Track production and sales trends to improve efficiency and profitability.
Ensure recipes and production standards are followed consistently.
Assist with developing seasonal and holiday production plans.

Food Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all company food safety and sanitation standards.
Follow all applicable health department regulations and food-handling requirements.
Ensure employees are properly trained in food safety, sanitation, allergen awareness, and proper food handling.
Maintain required temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and other department records.
Immediately address any food safety or sanitation concerns.

Customer Service

Maintain a customer-focused bakery environment.
Respond professionally to customer questions, requests, and concerns.
Assist customers with special orders and product selections when needed.
Ensure special orders are prepared accurately, attractively, and on time.
Work closely with Store Management to resolve customer concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements

Previous bakery management or supervisory experience required.
Strong knowledge of bakery production, preparation, decorating, and merchandising.
Experience managing and developing a team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with Store Management.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
Food safety knowledge and certification preferred.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical duties associated with bakery operations.
Ability to lift and move bakery ingredients, supplies, and products as required.

Schedule & Availability

Full-Time
45–55 hours per week
Open availability required
Weekends are required
Holidays are required
Schedule will vary based on business needs, production requirements, holidays, and peak sales periods.

We are looking for a hands-on bakery leader who understands that a successful bakery is built on consistency, quality, teamwork, and attention to detail. The Bakery Manager should be comfortable working alongside their team, jumping in wherever needed, and holding employees accountable to the standards expected at Livoti’s Old World Market.
