Full-Time Accountant – Merger Integration
Ohio Elevator & Lift
Location: Twinsburg, OH (with required travel to Cincinnati during the integration period)

About Ohio Elevator & Lift

Ohio Elevator & Lift is a family-owned and operated company specializing in the installation, service, maintenance, and modernization of residential elevators, commercial ADA-compliant lifts, stairlifts, and related accessibility equipment. We serve customers across Northeast and Central Ohio and are currently in the process of acquiring a company in southern Ohio. This acquisition will expand our footprint and create a larger, combined organization. We are seeking a hands-on Accountant to manage accounting and financial operations for the existing business while playing a key role in integrating the two companies.

Position Overview

We are looking for a full-time Accountant who will own day-to-day accounting and financial responsibilities and actively support the merger of Ohio Elevator & Lift with the Southern Ohio-based company. In the early stages, this role will require travel to help document and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the newly combined organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable with change, and able to work both independently and collaboratively during a period of growth and integration.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
Prepare and process invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
Process vendor bills and manage timely payments.
Maintain accurate job costing, project expense tracking, and profitability analysis for installation and service work.
Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and supporting schedules for ownership.
Assist with payroll processing and related record-keeping.
Support budgeting, cash-flow forecasting, and basic financial analysis.
Maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Work with external CPA/accountant on year-end close, tax preparation, and audits as needed.
Help transition and consolidate accounting systems, charts of accounts, and processes between the two companies.

Merger Integration & Process Development

Travel between locations (as needed during the initial integration period) to observe operations, gather information, and support the financial and operational merger.
Help develop, document, and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting, financial controls, invoicing, job costing, and related processes for the newly combined companies.
Assist in aligning accounting practices, reporting structures, and internal controls across both locations.
Support the integration of financial data, systems, and workflows following the acquisition.
Collaborate with ownership and key team members to identify process improvements and ensure smooth post-merger operations.
Serve as a key point of contact for financial questions during the transition period.

Qualifications

Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping (preferably in a small-to-midsize business, construction, service, or trades environment).
Strong proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks strongly preferred; experience with other systems is a plus).
Solid understanding of accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and job costing.
Experience supporting or participating in a company acquisition, merger, or significant business integration is highly desirable.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong written communication skills for documenting processes and writing clear SOPs.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly during the initial integration phase (frequency and duration to be discussed).
High integrity and comfort handling confidential financial and business information.
Self-starter who thrives in a growing, changing environment and can work both independently and as part of a small team.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
