Dental Financial Coordinator Job Overview

Join our growing dental practice as a Dental Financial Coordinator, where you'll play a critical role in ensuring the financial success of our office while delivering an exceptional patient experience. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced dental environment, enjoys helping patients understand their treatment and insurance benefits, and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records.

As our Dental Financial Coordinator, you will be responsible for verifying insurance benefits, presenting treatment estimates, collecting patient payments, submitting and following up on insurance claims, and helping patients navigate their financial responsibilities with confidence. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellent customer service will directly contribute to the success of both our patients and our practice.

Responsibilities

Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits prior to patient appointments.
Prepare accurate treatment estimates based on insurance coverage and explain patient financial responsibility.
Present treatment plans and discuss financing options with patients to help maximize case acceptance.
Submit electronic dental insurance claims accurately and promptly using Dentrix.
Follow up on outstanding, delayed, and denied insurance claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
Post insurance payments, process adjustments, and reconcile patient accounts.
Collect co-pays, deductibles, outstanding balances, and payments at the time of service.
Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and resolve claim discrepancies with insurance carriers.
Maintain accurate patient financial records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Coordinate with doctors, hygienists, and front office team members to ensure accurate treatment documentation and billing.
Monitor accounts receivable and assist in achieving office collection goals.
Generate financial and insurance reports using Dentrix and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Dental Financial Coordinator, Insurance Coordinator, or Dental Treatment Coordinator.
Strong working knowledge of Dentrix practice management software.
Thorough understanding of PPO dental insurance plans, benefit verification, claim submission, coordination of benefits, pre-authorizations, and appeals.
Experience presenting treatment plans and discussing patient financial arrangements with confidence and professionalism.
Knowledge of CDT dental procedure codes and dental insurance billing processes.
Experience managing accounts receivable, insurance aging reports, and patient collections.
Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly and compassionately.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a busy dental office.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience with payment plans and third-party financing programs such as CareCredit is a plus.
