Job Description:
Title: Sonographer
Reports to: The Executive Director and Executive Physician
Position Role:
The Sonographer is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations as part of the overall care provided to patients. This role includes providing high-quality imaging services in obstetrics and gynecology, maintaining patient-centered care, and working collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare team members to deliver accurate and timely diagnostic information. The Sonographer also serves as a key contributor to creating a supportive and efficient clinical environment.
Human Resource and Staff Development
· Co-Supervises Assistant that is assigned to work in this position.
· In concert with the co-leader, develops and administers an evaluation system based on established standards of office clinical practice for assigned team members.
· Instructs and monitors assigned staff for clinical support and accurate record keeping.
Clinical Practice Operation
· Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including obstetric and gynecological studies, in accordance with established protocols and physician orders.
· Accurately capture, document, and present imaging results for physician interpretation.
· Maintain current knowledge of advancements in ultrasound techniques, particularly in women’s healthcare.
· Assist physicians with procedures requiring ultrasound guidance
· Monitor and ensure the quality of images produced, adjusting as needed to meet diagnostic requirements.
· Identify and communicate abnormal findings or potential complications to the supervising physician promptly.
· Adhere to safety and infection control policies while preparing and handling ultrasound equipment and materials.
· Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care and flow within the office.
· Perform related duties as assigned.
Patient Care and Interaction
- Provide compassionate care while preparing patients for ultrasound examinations, explaining the procedure, and answering any questions.
- Ensure patient comfort and privacy during examinations.
- Maintain a professional demeanor, promoting trust and confidence among patients and their families.
Administrative and Technical Duties
- Keep ultrasound equipment in good working condition, performing routine maintenance and reporting technical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including imaging findings and procedure details.
- Ensure examination rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for procedures.
- Comply with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to diagnostic imaging.
Team Collaboration and Education
- Act as a resource for clinical staff by providing guidance on ultrasound-related practices.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical services.
- Provide occasional in-service training to enhance team understanding of ultrasound technology and applications.
Additional Responsibilities
· Ensures that all medical equipment is in good working order.
· Keeps the Providers and Practice Manager informed regarding clinical staff issues, plans and progress of assigned staff.

Qualifications:
- Education and Certification:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification required. OB/GYN specialty certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology imaging preferred.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and interpreting sonographic data.
- In-depth understanding of female anatomy, obstetric conditions, and gynecologic pathologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
- Additional Requirements:
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMRs) and imaging software.

Salary: Intro salary during training $50k-65k, but our sonographers earn in the top 90th percentile for OB/GYN sonographers nationwide, based on productivity. Average salary for sonographers working 40hr/week is $130k-$144k. Part time or per diem technicians will earn a prorated percentage of that salary based on hours worked per week.
Pay: $24.00 - $78.00 per hour
