LaunchNW is an initiative of Innovia Foundation that challenges our community to
come together to ensure every child has the opportunity and support to access their post-high school education or career choice and meet their full potential.
With a promise scholarship as an incentive, LaunchNW is working with community partners to collaboratively engage and provide wraparound supports for students and families. Position Summary:
City Connects is a school-based collaboration among an elementary school in Spokane Valley, WA, LaunchNW, Catholic Charities and other community agencies. It reinvigorates the core function of schools by implementing an innovative, systemic approach to student support. This model provides a defined, evidence-based framework in which a Project Coordinator collaborates with every teacher to support every student by assessing each student’s strengths and needs and connecting them to a tailored set of supports and resources from inside and outside the school. This is a one-year position, with the possibility of extension based on available funding.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Establish and lead a student support team and process in the school that identifies and responds to the strengths and personal developmental needs of each and every child in the school.
· Connect students to a range of prevention, early intervention and intensive services programs that address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development of each student.
· Collaborate regularly with the LaunchNW Family Haven Student and Family Support Specialist, and align services to ensure coordinated, wraparound support for students of the Family Haven.
· Develop and enhance community partnerships with varied community agencies to meet the identified needs of students, families, and the school.
· Collaborate with school staff, including classroom teachers, to implement the City Connects model.
· Promote the City Connects model of student support to the school community, families and community agencies.
· Engage families and caregivers in understanding and supporting the education of their children and the ways in which academic outcomes are enhanced by serving the social/emotional and personal development needs of the child.
· Collect and enter data on the implementation of the model and the delivery of service.
· Contribute to a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive student support program within the assigned school.
· Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
Required:
· Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling or other related fields, or currently in pursuit of a master’s degree.
· Experience working in a school environment,
· Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff, a diverse student body and families, as well as a team of professionals at the school,
· Evidence of culturally competent practices.
Preferred:
· Experience in urban schools
· Fluency in a second language
· Experience with an organization that uses data to guide practice
Skills/Abilities:
· Strong computer/technology skills
· Expert user in Excel and experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
· Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with customer service orientation to serve students, school colleagues, community members, and other constituent groups
· Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to streamline, perform, and prioritize multiple tasks, with a critical eye for detail.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Capable of high-quality performance and meeting deadlines in a quick-moving work environment
· Resourceful team player, with the ability to be effective independently
· Excellent data management skills
· Ability to collect, interpret and report on data in consultation with LaunchNW staff

· Ability to attend and participate in activities outside core business hours (early morning, evening, occasional weekends)

Physical Abilities:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to:
· Sit for prolonged periods of time;
· Walk and climb stairs;
· Operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard;

Work Environment:
