THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a driven, experienced Director of Sales & Operations to join our team. This is not a desk job. This is a player-coach role for someone who leads from the front, closes deals alongside their team, and knows exactly how to diagnose and fix a sales operation.

In the short term, your job is simple: come in and drive immediate, measurable revenue growth. In the long term, this role grows directly into a multi-location Director of Operations position as we expand across the region.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Assess and revamp our current sales process from the ground up
Train, coach, and hold the sales team accountable to daily, weekly, and monthly targets
Lead from the floor as a player-coach — personally closing deals and demonstrating best practices
Develop and launch promotions, pricing strategies, and sales events that move inventory fast
Build and grow B2B revenue channels with contractors, landlords, property managers, and real estate investors
Create a customer experience that earns repeat business, referrals, and five-star reviews
Track key performance metrics and report directly to ownership with a clear action plan
Develop the systems, playbooks, and team structures needed to support multi-location expansion
Participate in hiring, onboarding, and developing top sales talent
Work closely with ownership to plan and execute store growth initiatives

YOUR GROWTH PATH

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Phase 1 — Immediate: Assess the current sales operation, build trust with the team, and drive measurable revenue growth at our Dubuque location

Phase 2 — 6 to 18 Months: Stabilize and grow sales, build operational systems and playbooks, and begin laying the groundwork for expansion

Phase 3 — 18 Months and Beyond: Transition into Director of Operations, overseeing General Managers, sales teams, inventory, and culture across multiple store locations

MUST-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Minimum 3 to 5 years of retail sales leadership experience
Proven, verifiable track record of driving sales growth — you must have specific numbers to share
Experience personally closing sales on a retail floor — not just managing others
Demonstrated ability to train, motivate, and hold a sales team accountable
History of turning around an underperforming sales team or location
Ability to start within 2 weeks

STRONGLY PREFERRED

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Experience in appliances, furniture, home improvement, or discount and liquidation retail
Background in scratch-and-dent, open-box, or value retail sales
Experience building B2B relationships with contractors, builders, or property managers
Has opened, scaled, or helped grow a retail operation to multiple locations
Familiarity with CRM or POS systems
