Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and setting up manual machining equipment to produce precision metal components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Your expertise in mechanical blueprint interpretation, measurement tools, and machining techniques will ensure the highest quality standards are met. Responsibilities
- Operate manual machining tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines with precision and safety in mind
- Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce accurate parts
- Set up and calibrate machines including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other measurement instruments for quality control
- Perform manual machining operations using hand tools and power tools to shape metals and plastics according to project requirements
- Conduct precision measurements during machining processes to ensure parts meet strict tolerances using measurement instruments like dial indicators and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Assist in machine setup, tooling selection, and adjustments for optimal performance on manual lathes, grinders, or milling machines
- Support quality inspection activities by verifying finished parts against blueprints and technical specifications, ensuring compliance with manufacturing standards
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace while adhering to safety protocols including forklift operation when necessary
- Collaborate with team members on continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing practices
Requirements
- Proven experience in manual machining, including lathe work, grinding, milling, and drilling operations
- Strong ability to read mechanical blueprints and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) for quality control purposes
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining tools, tooling setups, and machine maintenance procedures
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and material quantities
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and support assembly processes when needed
- Familiarity with safety standards related to machine operation and metalworking environments
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials safely when required

Must be familiar with manual lathes, mills, key seaters. WE DO NOT HAVE CNC machines, this is all heavy metal machining with lathes, presses etc. Able to work independently and accurately.
We are a long time fabricator of industrial mill equipment located south of Creswell.

We are working 10 hour days with some overtime. Must be willing to work Mon thru Sat when required.
