Full Job Description

The Reservoir Restaurant in Waterbury is seeking a sous chef/assistant kitchen manager. We are a small restaurant group that is focused on delivering high quality restaurant experiences to our guests, while utilizing as much local products as possible. We offer competitive pay, as well as a commitment to work-life balance, ensuring that our management staff does not work more than 45 hours per week on average.

Applicants should have previous experience as a Sous Chef, or a lead line position looking to take the next step in their career.

Skills should include:
-Motivating the kitchen staff while maintaining a positive work environment

-Have the ability to teach, develop, and help staff advance their skills

-Working with and being supportive of the front of house staff

-Ability to remain calm under pressure

-Strong organization and communication skills

-Experience with food costing, ordering, and building relationships with vendors

-Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

-Menu development

-Work with a menu where everything is made in-house

-Planning weekly specials

-Prioritizing the use of local and seasonal products

-Creativity and passion for food

Compensation:
-Salary based on experience

Responsibilities

Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient food preparation and service management.
Manage inventory control and maintain stock levels to meet demand.
Supervise kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment and providing leadership.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while maintaining high-quality food standards.
Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and enhance service delivery.
Assist in menu planning and execution for various dining experiences, including banquets and fine dining.
