Clinical Dietician – Advanced Level (First Shift)

Join the clinical team at Selinsgrove State Centre and make a meaningful difference in residents’ health and quality of life. We are seeking an experienced, Pennsylvania-licensed Clinical Dietician to help coordinate therapeutic nutrition services, develop individualized care plans, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Location: Selinsgrove State Centre, 1000 Route 522, Selinsgrove, PA 17870
Department: Department of Human Services (DHS) – ODP/SOF
Position Type: Part-Time — 24 hours per week
Schedule: First Shift

Compensation Options

Tier 1 (W-2 employee, benefits eligible): $43/HR
Tier 2 (W-2 employee, non-benefits eligible): $47/HR
1099 Independent Contractor: $50/HR

Important 1099 Notice: Independent contractors are self-employed and are not eligible for employee benefits, paid time off, unemployment insurance, workers’ compensation coverage, or employer-paid payroll taxes. Independent contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and other applicable obligations.

Advanced-Level Opportunity

The successful candidate can perform the responsibilities associated with this role independently and without assistance. This individual is recognized within their organization as a trusted resource when difficult questions arise regarding clinical nutrition and dietetic services.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate, inspect, and evaluate the therapeutic diet program while maintaining HIPAA standards.
Support the goals of the Dietary Department or Food Services Division and integrate dietary services with clinical and support departments.
Complete and maintain dietary assessments and reassessments.
Document progress notes in medical records according to established standards.
Communicate with nursing staff regarding nutritional concerns, including tube feedings, diabetes, and weight changes.
Chart residents’ nutritional progress every 90 days—or more frequently when medically necessary—and notify physicians of relevant changes.
Plan and modify standard and therapeutic menus based on physician prescriptions, nutritional standards, cost, variety, and quality.
Write and review nutritional care plans consistent with physician orders.
Guide lower-level dietetic staff in providing appropriate nutritional care.
Instruct cooks and food service workers on special-diet food preparation.
Apply therapeutic diet methods, food safety and sanitation standards, and special-diet tray assembly procedures.
Consult with speech pathologists and other medical professionals as needed.
Participate in interdisciplinary care-plan meetings.
Provide in-service training to dietary and allied health staff when needed.
Complete nutritional discharge plans and provide instructions to residents receiving therapeutic diets before discharge.
Provide nutritional assessments, guidance, and recommendations to medical and food service staff in coordination with the Bureau of Healthcare Services Food Service Division.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must:

Hold a completed baccalaureate degree from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university, or its foreign equivalent.
Have met academic requirements accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
Have completed a supervised practice program accredited by CADE/ADA.
Have successfully completed the Registration Examination for Dietitians.
Be compliant with Professional Development Portfolio (PDP) recertification requirements.
Hold a current license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Be able to work independently at an advanced professional level.

Clinical nutrition experience is strongly recommended.
