Full Job Description

DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES III

Description: The candidate will be responsible for providing administrative direction to the school district’s custodial and maintenance unit. The Building and Grounds Department maintains 10 buildings with 784,770 square feet of space, 333 acres and 35 athletic fields. Work is performed according to established policies and procedures and in accordance with applicable state, local, and federal laws, rules and regulations which apply to school district facility operations and maintenance. The majority of activities are performed in the office, but the incumbent will spend time at various work sites especially during time when there are building projects ensuring that work is being performed and completed in an efficient manner. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services with considerable leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate supervisors. Does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities: Exercises administrative direction and supervision over the operations and personnel involved in the buildings and grounds department; works with construction managers, architects and/or engineers to develop, implement and complete capital improvement projects and other long-term plans; ensures that inspections are performed and reports completed related to tests of security systems, safety lighting, fire extinguishers, fire alarm system, doors, and eyewash stations are completed to ensure proper operation and compliance with applicable codes and regulations; and responds to inquiries from employees, school administrators and the public regarding school district buildings and grounds activities.

Minimum Requirements: The successful candidate must be on the current mandated civil service list, Director of Facilities III and be reachable, or hold the title.

Salary/Benefits: Salary Range $120,000 – $140,000 negotiable depending on experience & qualifications; Competitive Benefits Package.
