Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY – The Medical Coordinator serves in The WellHouse Medical Clinic as the daily health and wellness touchpoint for residents, managing all resident medical records, and liaising between healthcare providers for offering specific medical services. This is a 20 hour per week contract position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Coordinates medical care for highly traumatized individuals who are survivors of human sex trafficking and experiencing physical, mental, and substance use health issues.
Assesses new residents by gathering information, performing comprehensive medical assessments.
Develops complete plans of care to address and prioritize the medical needs of residents.
Educates patients about their care plan and health promoting activities.
Schedules appointments for doctors’ visits and other medical services.
Triages clinical need/urgency for higher level of care.
Collaborates continuously with care providers about treatment plan to ensure the well-being of residents.
Revises care plans based on patients’ progress and input from physicians and other medical providers.
Performs point of care testing and administers over-the-counter medications as needed.
Updates patient medical records after each contact.
Communicates with and educates non-medical staff members about ongoing changes in medical condition and/or medications.
Provides monthly update and board reports to Program Director on the progress of medical clinic.
Performs any other job-related projects, activities or duties as requested by Program Director.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participates in training, workshops and meetings as requested or scheduled by Program Director.
Ensures duties and responsibilities are carried out in a supportive and professional manner.
This position is a part-time, in-person, contract position based on an average of 20 hours/week.
The organization’s headquarters is in Odenville, AL. Preference is given to candidates who are local or willing to relocate. Remote candidates must have demonstrated competency in remote work and accept a schedule provided by the supervisor of the department.
The WellHouse is a non-profit organization that identifies as a Christian ministry. Its religious character is reflected in its policies, work environment, practices, and staff as outlined in The WellHouse board approved faith position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong judgment and critical thinking skills.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries with rescues, residents, volunteers, stakeholders, donors, guests, and other WellHouse staff.
Must possess effective reading comprehension skills.
Must possess strong customer service skills (courteous, friendly, etc.). Requires the ability to identify and solve problems in a calm, logical manner. Problem solving will include cooperative efforts with the rescues, residents, volunteers, stakeholders, donors, guests, and WellHouse staff.
Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to manage crisis, deescalate individuals, foster teamwork; multi-task; adapt quickly to change; and the ability to integrate the organization’s mission with required tasks, residents and intakes.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and to listen attentively.
Highly motivated, organized, and display mature judgement.
Demonstrated ability to comply with policies and procedures; uses proven sound judgement.
Ability to work independently.
Must be able to use a computer.
Must be ethical (honest, responsible, accountable, demonstrates integrity).
Must be adaptable (open to feedback, change, new ideas) and be flexible in job tasks within a team format.
Ability to be flexible in working hours to address emergency situations, shift coverage, meetings, and various organizational priorities.
Must maintain eligibility requirements for The WellHouse vehicle insurance coverage. Requires a current and valid unencumbered driver’s license.
Ability to work respectfully, non-judgmentally, and professionally with diverse groups of people and various populations in a culturally competent manner. This includes internal and external interactions.
Must respect and advance The WellHouse mission.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Licensed, Registered Nurse (RN) with the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Bachelor’s degree in human services field or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
Preference given to applicants who have at least 2 years of specialized experience in trauma informed services.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The company will comply with all requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA).
