Job Title: Powder Coating Technician / Team Lead

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sandblasting/Powder Coating Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for producing high-quality powder-coated products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while leading and supporting team members to ensure efficiency, quality, and on-time production. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of managing workflow, training employees, and maintaining high production standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare metal parts and surfaces for powder coating, including cleaning, masking, and hanging parts.
Sandblasting experience required.
Apply powder coatings using electrostatic spray equipment to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes.
Monitor curing ovens and ensure proper curing times and temperatures.
Inspect finished products for quality, coverage, color consistency, and defects.
Lead and coordinate daily activities of powder coating personnel to meet production schedules.
Train, mentor, and hold team members accountable to quality and productivity standards.
Ensure efficient workflow and minimize rework, waste, and downtime.
Troubleshoot coating defects and equipment issues.
Maintain powder coating equipment, booths, guns, and related systems.
Follow all safety procedures and ensure team compliance with company policies.
Communicate effectively with production, quality, and management teams regarding priorities and deadlines.
Assist with inventory management of powders, supplies, and consumables.
Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S and lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
Strong understanding of powder coating processes, surface preparation, and curing requirements.
Ability to identify and correct coating defects and quality issues.
Experience operating powder coating equipment and production machinery.
Ability to read work orders, specifications, and production schedules.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Forklift experience is required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
