Position Overview:
Chattanooga Christian School is seeking a Middle School Head / High School Assistant Boys Tennis Coach for the Fall 2026 season beginning in July 2026. This position includes Assistant Tennis Professional responsibilities and is responsible for fostering a Christ-centered environment in which student-athletes can develop their athletic skills, character, leadership abilities, and love for the game of tennis. The successful candidate will cultivate a positive team culture that encourages students to reach their full potential while supporting the mission of Chattanooga Christian School: Preparing students to lead and serve with distinction while representing Christ and His Kingdom in all areas of the home, church, society, and culture.
Note: Preference will be given to candidates who are able to fill an open faculty position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coaching Responsibilities
- Evaluate individual student-athletes and develop coaching plans that help each athlete progress from their current skill level toward their full potential.

Collaborate with other coaches to develop and implement effective training programs and team strategies.

Develop individual and team skills through well-planned practices, instruction, and positive reinforcement.

Foster a Christ-centered team culture that promotes character, sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork.

Communicate proactively with student-athletes and parents/guardians regarding expectations, practice schedules, competitions, and team activities.

Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices, matches, and team events as needed.

Issue, maintain, and collect athletic equipment and uniforms.

Attend all scheduled practices, matches, and postseason competitions.
-
Assist with facility setup and breakdown for practices, matches, and events; ensure facilities are left in good condition.

Conduct preseason conditioning and practices as applicable.

Operate school vehicles and transport student-athletes when authorized and necessary.

Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned.
Assistant Tennis Professional Responsibilities (Reports to Advisory Director of Tennis)
Program Operations
-
Assist the tennis leadership team in the daily operation and administration of the tennis program.
-
Utilize membership and program management software to maintain accurate attendance, registration, and payment records.

Ensure accurate billing and documentation for private lessons, group lessons, leagues, travel teams, camps, and other tennis-related activities.

String racquets and provide related support services as needed.
Instruction and Player Development

Assist in the planning, organization, and instruction of junior tennis programming.

Assist in the planning, organization, and instruction of adult tennis programming.
-
Provide private, semi-private, group, travel team, and specialty tennis instruction.

Assist with tennis instruction during summer camps and special seasonal programs.

Develop lesson plans and instructional opportunities that support player development at various skill levels.
Events and Community Engagement

Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of tennis tournaments, social events, clinics, and special programs.

Support efforts to promote participation and engagement within the CCS tennis community.
Travel Team Support
-
Assist with the instruction and development of adult travel team players.
-
Help members identify appropriate travel team opportunities based on skill level and experience.
-
Attend and observe travel team matches as needed to evaluate player performance and provide targeted instruction and feedback.

Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the High School level.

A heart to positively influence young athletes.

Prior administrative experience preferred.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Ability to exercise discretion and utmost professionalism in confidential & sensitive student/family matters.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

If required to drive a school vehicle, must have a valid driver's license and meet CCS's MVR guidelines.
