Full Job Description

Job Summary:

1836 Farms is a family-owned and operated dairy processing and distribution facility. The 1836 Farms family has a long and storied history of dairy farming starting with their great grandpa over 100 years ago in Switzerland. We have experience in bottling milk the old school way with old school practices using today’s technology. We also believe that milk in glass bottles is the healthiest and most ecological choice to maintain and sustain our environment, not only here in Texas, but across the U.S. 1836 Farms operates in a 39,500 square foot facility located just outside of Dallas in Terrell, TX. The QA Technician will assure consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice (GMP) systems; validating processes; providing documentation; educating staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

· Achieves quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems.

· Maintains quality assurance plans by verification procedures and monitoring inventories.

· Verified quality processes meet product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence and determining operational and performance qualification.

· Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.

· Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.

· Updates job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

· Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.

· Make sure the workplace is safe and clean. Responsible for filling out incident and accident reports and reporting all violations of safety and other policies. They must ensure that the company’s exposure to risk is minimized by following all safety regulations.

· Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.

· Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.

· Develop, implement and maintain food quality and food safety programs.

· Ensure that the packaged product, packaging components and raw materials have the proper disposition and comply with all the requirements for the finished product.

· Collect representative samples for Certificate of Analysis.

· Maintain HACCP Standards, Food Safety Quality Plan, Kosher Certification, Organic Plan, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO), Appendix N, ensuring compliance, and keeping all records current.

· Responsible on following all safety and food safety guidelines

· Supports Quality Manager.

· Creates Certificate of Analysis for customers.

· Maintains Food Safety and Quality Standards.

· Board Requirements, ensuring compliance, keeping all records current.

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or GED

· Preferred to have at least 1+ years of experience in quality assurance preferably in the food industry.

· Preferred to have work experience in GMPs and statistical methods of handling & reviewing investigations.

· Proficiency in MS Office applications

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Working conditions

May sit, stand, reach, stoop, pivot turn and bend while performing tasks. May sit, stand at a desk or computer for long periods of time. Must be able to lift, push and or carry up to 45 pounds. Ability to work in an open office environment. Facility may incur extreme temperature variation and other hazards as incurred in the food manufacturing and packaging process. May be exposed to loud noise from moving forklifts and production equipment.

Requires wearing company uniform, with company provided hair net/beard net/safety glasses, ear plugs. Work is completed in a facility where egg/dairy and other allergens are present.
