Full Job Description

The City of Three Rivers is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time DPS Clerk III (Administrative Assistant) position. Under direction of the DPS Director, incumbent will perform a variety of advanced clerical and bookkeeping responsibilities including but not limited to dispatching department crews for service requests; assisting with annual budget documents; serves as department’s procurement card coordinator; responding to citizen concerns and complaints; maintains department accounting records and travel requests; prepares requisitions and check requests; records fuel inventory and coordinates City-wide fuel records; prepares Michigan Department of Transportation Quarterly Report of expenditures for trunkline maintenance along with monthly salt usage reports; maintains accurate motor pool activity records including recording repairs for all vehicles and equipment; records park shelter reservations and receipts revenue received for reservations, prepares detailed timekeeping for all department employees including calculating total payroll appropriate fund and work type; and prepares equipment usage reports for City Hall.

Within six (6) months, incumbents are expected to work independently with minimal supervision, within existing accounting policies and procedures; able to prioritize and successfully complete multiple work assignments; initiate, plan, organize and carry through projects; work quickly and accurately with numeric calculations; ability to interpret and explain local codes and ordinances; and provide excellent customer service to the general public in a professional courteous manner even in stressful situations.

Minimum requirements: High School graduate or GED; at least 2 college semesters/terms in accounting; minimum of 1-year related work experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities; strong customer relations, organizational and computer skills; must be proficient at Microsoft Word and Excel; and a valid driver’s license. Associate Degree in Accounting with at least 2-years related work experience preferred.

Union position, wage up to $24.35/hr.
Work Hours: M – F 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
