Position Overview

Spring Tax Advisors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Specialist / Senior Small Business Accounting Advisor to manage the complete accounting cycle for multiple small business clients across a variety of industries.

This is not an entry-level accounting position.

We are looking for a seasoned accounting professional who understands the language, structure, and flow of accounting from transaction entry through financial statement preparation and analysis. The ideal candidate has worked in a full accounting capacity, is comfortable managing multiple client accounts simultaneously, and can identify and resolve accounting issues independently.

Position Summary

The Accounting Specialist / Senior Small Business Accounting Advisor is responsible for managing the accounting records and financial reporting for multiple small business clients. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both clients and internal team members.

Core Responsibilities

Full-Cycle Accounting

Manage bookkeeping and accounting for multiple clients simultaneously.
Record and classify transactions accurately.
Perform bank, credit card, loan, and payroll reconciliations.
Prepare and post adjusting journal entries.
Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
Reconcile balance sheet and equity accounts.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Review general ledger activity and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare year-end accounting workpapers for the tax department.

Financial Analysis & Advisory

Analyze financial statements for accuracy and reasonableness.
Identify accounting issues and recommend corrective actions.
Assist clients with budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting.
Communicate findings and recommendations to clients and internal staff.
Support tax and advisory teams with accurate financial data.

Client Management

Manage deadlines and deliverables for multiple client engagements.
Maintain strong client relationships.
Request and organize client documentation.
Ensure all work is completed accurately and on time.

Required Qualifications

Education

Minimum of an Associate Degree in:

Accounting
Finance
Business Administration
Taxation

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years of recent experience in:

Full-cycle accounting
Financial statement preparation
General ledger management
Account reconciliations
Multi-client accounting
Public accounting, outsourced accounting, or bookkeeping services

Required Technical Knowledge

Accounting Expertise

Debits and credits
General ledger and trial balance
Cash and accrual accounting
Adjusting journal entries
Retained earnings and equity
Loan amortization
Payroll accounting
Inventory accounting
Fixed assets and depreciation
Financial statement preparation and analysis

Software Proficiency

QuickBooks Online
QuickBooks Desktop
Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, and reconciliations)
Experience with practice management and document management systems is a plus

Preferred Credentials

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA)
Advanced bookkeeping or accounting certifications
