Full Job Description

The Collections Associate helps preserve the Credit Union’s assets by assisting in controlling delinquency through collecting delinquent loan payments, negative shares and/or recovering collateral. In addition to their regular duties and responsibilities, the Collections Associate will help ensure department services are delivered professionally and efficiently. They may work on assigned special projects to help further the department’s collection efforts.

Duties:

Contacts delinquent accounts by phone, e-mail, mail or any other acceptable means that are available. Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers and takes appropriate action to help bring accounts current. Properly close services when required.
Maintains accurate files and proper collection notes, and reports on collection activity.
Completes collection functions in accordance with established policies and procedures as well as applicable legal requirements.
Assists members with setting up automatic payments. Helps set up FSP on negative share drafts as needed.
Ensures confidentiality and professionalism is maintained.

Qualifications:

One to three years of similar or related experience.
Two-year college degree or equivalent knowledge attained through related experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Phone etiquette.
High attention to detail with minimal errors.
Analytical skill.
Mathematical ability to compute ratios and percentages.
Effective negotiation skills.
Goal oriented
Self-motivated
PC/Technology proficiency.
