Overview of Partners in Hope

Mission and Services

Partners in Hope (PIH) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), faith-based organization that supports Troy, Ohio families in crisis. PIH helps families move toward stability by addressing immediate needs while also providing relief, education, and development services designed to encourage long-term solutions.

Funding

The organization is primarily funded by Troy-area churches, community organizations, foundations, United Way, and individual and corporate contributions. Less than 10% of its funding comes from government agencies.

History and Growth

Partners in Hope was established by several Troy-area churches before 1990 to serve as a single point of referral for churches assisting people in crisis. At that time, the organization employed one part-time staff member to provide crisis intervention.

Since its founding, Partners in Hope has expanded both its infrastructure and scope, and its services now extend beyond relief to include a range of education and development programs.

The Position of Executive Director

The Executive Director serves as the primary administrator and spokesperson for Partners in Hope and reports directly to the Board of Directors. In partnership with the Board, the Executive Director is responsible for advancing the organization’s mission: “Through our FAITH as children of God, we build positive relationships and develop partnerships to create an impact in our community.”

The Executive Director’s key responsibilities include the following areas:

Board Leadership and Accountability

Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors, including its officers and members. Partner with the Board to establish short- and long-term goals that support the organization’s mission.

Policy and Strategic Direction

Recommend policies to the Board of Directors and administer approved policies. Identify opportunities for Partners in Hope to better serve clients, propose action plans for new or expanded services, and establish operational policies and procedures within the authority granted by the Board.

Operations

Plan and oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring that programs, services, and administrative functions are carried out effectively.

Finance and Fund Development

Identify, cultivate, and steward funding sources, including foundations, churches, businesses, individuals, and other community partners. Manage grant development activities, oversee fiscal operations, support budget development and expenditure management, and facilitate recognition opportunities for donors and volunteers.

Staff and Committee Leadership

Establish and lead staff positions and working committees made up of staff, clients, volunteers, and board members. Ensure that competent, motivated individuals are in place and receive the support, supervision, and resources needed to succeed.

Community Engagement and Partnerships

Represent Partners in Hope as a visible and respected presence in the community. Develop public relations and marketing strategies to increase awareness of programs; seek and manage opportunities for Poverty Simulations and other community training experiences; and collaborate with community groups to strengthen coalitions, expand partnerships, and reduce duplication of services.

Candidate Profile

Partners in Hope seeks qualified candidates with the following combination of skills, experience, and attributes:

· Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a non-profit management, volunteer or public service agency

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Grant writing and fundraising experience

· Self-motivated, confident public speaker; strong interpersonal abilities; maintains confidentiality; proficient in data management

· Ability to develop budgets and understand financial statements

· Ability to work a flexible schedule

A successful background check will be required to complete the hiring process.

Executive Director Compensation

Compensation is competitive and is based upon available resources, comparable positions and the candidate’s education and experience. This is a 37.5 hour per week position.
