Position Overview
This role supervises the day-to-day activities of assigned Inspectors by planning work and adjusting assignments to respond to changing priorities. This is a working supervisor responsible for performing inspection duties as part of the team and serves as a subject matter expert for the rest of the team.
Supervisors are also responsible for the selection, training, and performance management of team members. Supervisors are expected to ensure that a safe and orderly work area is maintained, and to ensure team compliance with Company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Further, Supervisors are
expected to set the tone and lead by example with their behavior, communication, work performance, and attendance
This role is identified as requiring ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) compliance; therefore, qualified candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15):
- An individual who is granted U.S. citizenship, or
- An individual who is granted U.S. permanent residence (i.e., a "Green Card" holder), or
- An individual who is granted status as a "protected person"

- Supervises day-to-day activities of the assigned inspection group, performs inspection activities and coordinates the flow of parts through the assigned inspection area while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency
- Demonstrates initiative to make things better for the company, models excellence with personal work performance and desire for success, communicates professionally and assertively across all levels int he organization, and leads by example to build collaborative relationships
- Oversees the use of appropriate inspection methods; oversees inspection results and records for conformance with engineering and work instruction requirements
- Serves as a technical expert on the methods performed in the group and the results obtained; uses inspection expertise to assist coworkers with troubleshooting, investigations, and problem resolution
- Ensures adherence to acceptable work practices by assigned team members; ensures compliance with EHS requirements and with Company policies and procedures
- Compiles and analyzes data to ensure assigned inspection group is operating effectively and efficiently; manages performance and development to improve individual and team results
- Performs root cause analysis as required; recommends and implements corrective and preventive actions to address findings
- Leads and supports the implementation of process improvements with direct reports; may participate in process improvement activities with other departments and teams
- Works independently but ensures communication of critical information upward; obtains support from appropriate management for key decision-making
- Evaluates, coaches, and manages team member performance; completes performance and disciplinary documentation promptly and partners with HR representatives as appropriate to manage employee performance and behavior
- Maintains a competent, reliable, and responsive team to respond to organizational needs, collaborate effectively, and meet or exceed expectations
- Ensures compliance with Quality System procedures; recommends and initiates changes as appropriate
- Coordinates inspection scheduling priorities and ensures adequate tie-in occurs during shift changes
- Ensures new employee onboarding to equip new team members for success; supports ongoing skill and professional development of team members
- Sets an example for integrity, communication, and compliance for others in the organization by following policies, communicating professionally, and providing timely responses to internal customers
- Performs other incidental duties as required
- Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
Work Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in machined parts manufacturing or the inspection of machined parts for aerospace is required
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred
Other Required Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality System requirements
- Expertise in reading blueprints, customer specifications and Company policies and procedures to ensure simultaneous compliance with all
- Comprehensive knowledge and expertise in AS9102 First Article process
- Proven competence in the manufacture or measurement of precision machined parts
- Professional communication skills, both written and verbal (English) is essential
- Demonstrated proclivity and strengths in teamwork, collaboration, attention to detail, and initiative are critical for success
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word; Proficiency in use of ERP systems for manufacturing is preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment
To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including all buildings and the manufacturing areas
- Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds
- Regularly climb steps, stairs, or ladders
- Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
- Constantly communicate verbally and in writing (English) using a phone, texts, or other messaging
- Visual acuity to accurately read mics, calipers, or other precision measuring instruments; accurately distinguish colors
- Use hands and fingers to operate computer keyboards, and measurement instruments, and manually examine parts
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing shop environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:
- Excessive noise -hearing protection required (occasionally)
- Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)
- Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
- Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment
The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear is required
