Full Job Description

Job Summary:

The Assistant Plant Manager provides day-to-day operational leadership for the manufacturing facility by coordinating production, maintenance, materials, quality, shipping, and workforce activities to achieve business objectives. Working closely with the Plant Manager, this role ensures efficient execution of plant operations, develops frontline leaders, and drives continuous improvement across the facility. The position serves as the primary operational leader responsible for translating strategic direction into consistent daily performance while maintaining a safe, collaborative, and customer-focused manufacturing environment.

Required Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree, equivalent education, military training, apprenticeship, or demonstrated combination of education and progressively responsible manufacturing leadership experience.

· Ability to safely perform work within a manufacturing and warehouse environment

Preferred Qualifications:

· Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Project Management, or other continuous improvement training or certifications

· Experience working with industrial robotic systems (such as FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa/Motoman, Kawasaki, Universal Robots, or similar platforms) within a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Required Experience:

· Progressive leadership experience within manufacturing, industrial, or production operations.

· Experience coordinating multiple operational functions including production, maintenance, quality, inventory, logistics, or materials management.

· Demonstrated experience leading supervisors and frontline employees while maintaining production, safety, and quality objectives.

· Experience resolving operational issues through cross-functional collaboration and data-informed decision making.

· Experience using operational performance metrics to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, or customer delivery.

Preferred Experience:

· Experience supporting a small to mid-sized manufacturing operation with broad operational responsibilities.

· Experience within composite manufacturing, industrial fabrication, aerospace, automotive, or related manufacturing environments.

· Experience supporting facility startups, operational expansions, or significant process improvements.

· Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives with measurable business results.

· Experience working within customer-driven quality systems or regulated manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

· Direct daily manufacturing operations to achieve production, safety, quality, and customer delivery objectives while ensuring effective coordination across departments.

· Coordinate production, maintenance, materials, quality, warehouse, and shipping activities to maximize operational efficiency, equipment utilization, and workforce effectiveness.

· Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline employees by establishing clear expectations, reinforcing accountability, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

· Resolve operational constraints by balancing production priorities, labor resources, equipment availability, and material readiness to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

· Monitor operational performance metrics and implement corrective actions that improve productivity, inventory accuracy, quality performance, on-time delivery, and cost effectiveness.

· Partner with the Plant Manager to execute strategic initiatives, capital projects, workforce planning, and process improvements that support long-term business objectives.

· Promote a safe, compliant, and engaged workplace by reinforcing company policies, environmental standards, quality requirements, and regulatory obligations.

· Serve as acting Plant Manager during periods of absence by providing leadership continuity and maintaining operational performance across the facility.

Environmental, Health & Safety Requirements

· Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental compliance requirements.

· Properly use required PPE and safely operate tools, machinery, and diagnostic equipment.

· Identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions and hazardous work practices.

· Participate in safety investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action activities.

· Work in industrial manufacturing environments with exposure to moving machinery, electrical systems, noise, heat, vibration, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.

· Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with housekeeping and 5S standards.

· Participate in required safety training, emergency response procedures, and incident reporting activities.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
