Full Job Description

Position Purpose: Diversified Machining & Fabrication (DMF) is a Job Shop. We are in search of seasoned journeyman machinists who are diverse in operating a variety of manual machines to produce large and small high quality precision components. Operation of horizontal and vertical lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, etc. must be second nature. Candidates must be able to think creatively using a variety of machines and setups to produce complicated parts and components. May also fabricate and repair parts for industrial, agriculture, and power generation equipment. Candidates must be able to produce high quality workmanship within reasonable timelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operate manual machines.

Read and comprehend blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and set up requirements.

Be hard working, reliable, motivated individual, with a positive attitude who works well independently and with others, in a safe clean and organized manner.

Selects aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines as necessary to machine parts as required.

Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to established guidelines and procedures.

Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.

Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

Performs routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty professionally. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Physical Demand: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specifically, vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be noisy.
