Full Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Milling Set-Up Machinist to join our growing AS9100 Certified manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and setting up CNC milling machines to produce precision metal components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Your expertise in machine setup, tooling, and basic programming will ensure efficient production runs while maintaining the highest quality standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment dedicated to excellence, continuous improvement and opportunity for growth.

Duties

Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing specifications to determine machining requirements.
Set up CNC milling machines, including installing tooling, calibrating machines, and verifying machine parameters for optimal operation.
Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measurement tools to ensure parts meet quality standards.
Perform machine troubleshooting, adjustments, and manual machining as needed to resolve issues or refine parts.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Collaborate with quality control teams to perform CNC quality inspections and verify that finished components meet GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications.
Programming is a plus.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a CNC Milling Set-Up Machinist or similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Basic knowledge of CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code is expected. Further defined Programming experience along with experience with CAM software like SolidWorks or similar is highly desirable.
Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints and interpreting mechanical blueprints accurately.
Familiarity with machining tools, manual machining techniques, grinders, lathes, hand tools, power tools, and tooling management.
Mechanical knowledge of metal machining processes including CNC milling, lathe work, grinding, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
Ability to operate precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measurement devices for quality control purposes.
Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements, tolerances, and machine setup adjustments.
Experience with CNC lathe operations is a plus; understanding of lean manufacturing principles is beneficial.
Strong mechanical aptitude combined with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
