Full Job Description

Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Sous Chef at a premier steakhouse renowned for its exceptional cuisine and vibrant dining experience. In this vital leadership role, you and the chef will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensure the highest standards of food quality and safety, and inspire your culinary team to deliver memorable dining moments. Your expertise in fine dining, food preparation, and team management will drive excellence in every plate served, creating an energetic atmosphere that celebrates culinary artistry and hospitality. **Prefer Sous Chef who resides on island or in the process of relocating. No relocation /no housing provided.

Responsibilities

Assist the Executive Chef in managing all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to quality standards.
Supervise food preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain the restaurant’s reputation for excellence.
Lead and motivate culinary staff, fostering a positive team environment focused on collaboration and continuous improvement.
Oversee inventory control, ordering supplies, and managing food costs to optimize efficiency and minimize waste.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards across all kitchen areas.
Coordinate with the catering and banquet teams to support special events and large-scale service needs.
Participate in menu planning, recipe development, and culinary innovation to keep offerings fresh and exciting.

Requirements

Proven experience in fine dining establishments with a strong background in steakhouse cuisine. Must have skills in rotating stock, smoking meats, monitoring inventory, portioning steaks, strong skills
Supervising experience with a track record of leading successful kitchen teams.
Extensive knowledge of food production, food handling, and safety protocols within the food industry.
Help once weekly as needed at Taste Restaurant, located upstairs on busy days when ships are in port.
Strong skills in inventory management, cost control, and kitchen management practices.
Experience with banquet service, catering operations, and dietary department procedures is highly desirable.
Demonstrated leadership abilities with excellent communication skills and a passion for culinary excellence.
