Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. This role is ideal for someone detail‑oriented, organized, and knowledgeable in medical billing and insurance procedures. As a key part of the revenue cycle, you will ensure accurate claim submission, resolve billing discrepancies, and support both patients and providers with billing inquiries. Strong communication skills, experience with billing software, and a solid understanding of insurance guidelines and coding standards are essential. Candidates with prior billing or coding experience are highly valued.

Responsibilities

· Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims electronically or by paper.

· Perform insurance verification, eligibility checks, and benefits confirmation.

· Apply correct billing codes using CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS guidelines.

· Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately.

· Follow up on outstanding claims and resolve rejections or denials.

· Generate patient statements and assist with patient billing inquiries.

· Maintain accurate and organized billing records.

· Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines, and federal regulations.

· Communicate with insurance companies to clarify claim issues.

· Support office staff with billing‑related questions and tasks.

· Utilize EMR/EHR and billing software for daily operations.

Qualifications

· Previous experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle operations preferred.

· Knowledge of billing codes (CPT, ICD‑10, HCPCS) and insurance processes.

· Proficiency with billing and EMR/EHR software

· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data entry accuracy.

· Excellent communication skills and customer service mindset.

· Ability to handle confidential patient information in compliance with HIPAA.

· Certification such as CPB or CPC is a plus.

· Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Pay: $18.49 - $19.34 per hour
