We are offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Director of Global Logistics to join our team at our Wappingers Falls, NY office.
As the Director, Global Logistics, you will use your skills and experience to help optimize our efficiency in distribution operations for our group of brands. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing both short and long-term projects to ensure our success in global and domestic logistics. An ideal candidate will be self-motivated and have excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Logistics:
- Continuously analyze freight spending and transportation rates to identify opportunities for cost reduction and service improvement.
- Manage carrier procurement processes, including contract compliance, performance management, and negotiation of new transportation agreements.
- Develop and implement strategies to streamline shipping and transportation processes across the organization.
- Evaluate and optimize transportation solutions for domestic, international, and bi-coastal distribution networks.
- Research, qualify, and onboard new carrier partners to support evolving business needs.
- Manage carrier relationships, serving as the primary liaison for service, pricing, and operational issue resolution.
- Partner with Plant Managers and warehouse leadership to oversee domestic and international shipping programs.
- Provide functional leadership and support to Shipping teams, including process development, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure routing guides, shipping procedures, and transportation policies remain current, effectively documented, and broadly communicated.
- Oversee compliance with customer and vendor shipping requirements across all brands and business units.
- Review shipping requirements for both new and existing business partners to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
- Monitor packaging specifications, including carton dimensions and weight accuracy, and coordinate corrective actions when necessary.
- Establish and maintain transportation business rules, documentation standards, and process workflows.
- Manage global logistics operations, including inbound shipments into the United States and the Netherlands from key sourcing regions, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, India, South Korea, and China.
- Maintain expertise in ocean freight, air freight, LCL, full-container, and multimodal transportation solutions.
- Review and approve freight invoices while partnering with operational teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Lead complex domestic and international transportation projects, including regulated and licensed export activities involving capital equipment.
- Provide international freight quotations and transportation solutions for internal stakeholders, including contract and international business teams.
Compliance:
- Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification management.
- Customs valuation and brokerage oversight.
- Free Trade Agreement (FTA) compliance.
- Export licensing requirements.
- Regulatory compliance, including Lacey Act and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) requirements.
- Ensure all shipping documentation, including packing lists, commercial invoices, bills of lading, and customs documentation, is accurate and compliant.
Technology: TMS – Process Weaver; SAP S4/Hana
- Lead logistics technology initiatives, including the design, implementation, and enhancement of Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Oversee all logistics-related system development efforts, including business requirements, Statements of Work (SOWs), project management, testing, deployment, and training.
- Identify and implement strategic carriers and transportation solutions within the TMS environment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, automation, scalability, and cost savings.
- Support the implementation of drop-ship programs and customer-specific logistics requirements.
Analytics: Excel
- Provide freight analytics and transportation reporting to support Sales, Finance, and operational leadership.
- Develop logistics cost analyses and recommendations to improve overall transportation efficiency.
- Support financial reporting requirements, including year-end revenue recognition reviews through proof-of-delivery validation.
- Serve as the primary logistics liaison during internal and external financial audits.
- Other duties assigned as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or distribution management.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international transportation, freight forwarding, customs processes, and global trade compliance.
- Experience negotiating transportation contracts and managing carrier relationships.
- Demonstrated experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems, and logistics technology platforms.
- SAP experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and data analysis tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Proven project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to reliably commute to Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
- Occasional travel as needed.
