Full Job Description

Reports to: Fabrication Shop Manager

Department: Fabrication Shop

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

This position is union represented. The employee will be signed up with Union Local 354 by Tomko and offered benefits according to the specific CBA.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder with experience in MIG, TIG, and Flux Core welding processes. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and components, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform welding tasks using MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), and Flux Core (FCAW) processes
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
Set up welding equipment, select appropriate materials, and adjust settings for optimal results
Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces
Repair and rework welds as needed
Maintain welding tools and equipment in safe working condition
Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and quality control personnel

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED (technical/trade school preferred)
Proven experience with MIG, TIG, and Flux Core welding
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
Familiarity with various metals (steel, aluminum, stainless steel, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality
Knowledge of welding safety standards and procedures
Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred Certifications:

AWS (American Welding Society) certification or equivalent
Additional welding certifications are a plus

Work Environment:

Manufacturing or fabrication shop environment
May involve indoor and outdoor work depending on project requirements

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Prolonged standing, bending, and working in various positions
Ability to work in environments with heat, noise, and fumes (PPE provided)

Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Forty hours per week/10 hours per day/Monday through Thursday, 6:30am to 4:00pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
