We are currently expanding our crew for upcoming production slates and seeking motivated, skilled professionals for the four key positions outlined below.
1. Sound Engineer (Location Sound Mixer / Recordist)
Position Overview: The Sound Engineer is responsible for capturing clean, high-quality production audio on set and in the field. You will manage audio levels, microphone placement, and multitrack recording during interviews, active scenes, and documentary b-roll capture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate location sound equipment (multi-channel recorders/mixers, boom mics, wireless lavaliers, and timecode sync units).
- Perform site audio evaluations to identify and mitigate background noise or acoustic challenges.
- Rig and conceal lavalier microphones on subjects efficiently while respecting personal space and comfort.
- Deliver organized, labeled multitrack audio files and sound logs at the end of each production day.
- Maintain and troubleshoot all audio gear on location.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Location Sound Mixer or Audio Recordist, ideally on documentary or non-fiction sets.
- Ownership of or access to a professional field recording kit (recorder, lavs, boom setup, timecode sync boxes).
- Sharp ear for subtle audio defects (wind, RF interference, room tone variations).
- Strong communication skills and ability to adapt quickly to changing environments.
2. Grip 1 (Key Grip / Lead Grip)
Position Overview: Grip 1 serves as the primary grip for the crew, taking ownership of rigging, camera support, and light shaping/modification. Working closely with the Camera and G&E departments, you ensure every setup is secure, efficient, and visually aligned with the director’s vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the setup and teardown of grip equipment (C-stands, flags, diffusions, nets, frames, and overheads).
- Rig camera movement systems (dollies, sliders, car mounts, or specialized supports) with maximum stability and safety.
- Shape and modify natural and artificial light according to the Director of Photography’s direction.
- Manage set safety around heavy equipment, overhead rigging, and cables.
- Oversee the inventory, loading, and organization of the grip truck/gear.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in the grip department on film, commercial, or documentary sets.
- In-depth knowledge of grip hardware, knots, rigging safety protocols, and load limits.
- Strong physical stamina (ability to lift 50+ lbs) and comfortable working outdoors or in challenging locations.
- Proactive mindset with a constant eye on set efficiency and hazard prevention.
3. Grip 2 (Second Grip / Assistant Grip)
Position Overview: Grip 2 provides hands-on support to Grip 1 and the camera department. This position is vital for maintaining momentum on set, managing gear flow, and assisting with physical setups, light shaping, and equipment movement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Grip 1 with setting up C-stands, sandbags, diffusion frames, and light-shaping tools.
- Load, unload, and transport gear between staging areas and set locations.
- Run cables, set up safety perimeter markers, and ensure all gear is properly weighted/secured.
- Anticipate upcoming scenes by staging required gear ahead of time.
- Maintain an organized gear truck/staging area for quick access during fast-paced shoots.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience on set as a Grip, PA, or G&E intern.
- Working knowledge of basic grip hardware, safety standards, and set etiquette.
- Strong physical stamina, reliable work ethic, and ability to take direction quickly.
- Team-first attitude with a high attention to detail.
4. Production Assistant (PA)
Position Overview: The Production Assistant is the backbone of daily set logistics. You will support all departments to ensure production runs smoothly, on schedule, and without friction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with crew lock-outs, crowd control, and maintaining a quiet, safe set during takes.
- Coordinate craft services, crew meals, and runs for emergency supplies or equipment.
- Manage call sheet distribution, talent transport, and production paperwork (release forms, logs).
- Support camera, sound, and grip departments with gear movement when needed.
- Keep the set clean, organized, and running on schedule.
Qualifications:
- High energy, problem-solving attitude, and exceptional communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (clean driving record preferred).
- Familiarity with film set workflow, terminology, and hierarchy.
- Ability to stay organized under pressure in fast-moving environments.
Pay: $22.88 - $30.00 per hour
