Full Job Description

Our client, REED Manufacturing at 1425 West 8th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania, is seeking an experienced 2nd or 3rd Shift CNC Machinist (Class A and B) to join their unionized organization. This role involves set-up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision parts in accordance with detailed specifications.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in CNC machining with mills and lathes as well as a strong understanding of manufacturing processes. These positions offer an opportunity to contribute to high-quality production standards while working in a dynamic, safety-conscious environment. The successful applicant will demonstrate mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Background check and drug screen are required for employment consideration.

Available Shifts - 2nd shift or 3rd shift

Salary - $24.35 - $29.65/hr. with a $.60 shift differential for either shift

Job Responsibilities

Set-up, load and run CNC mills in an assigned group of machines to maintain productivity and meet production requirements.
Set-up, load and run CNC lathes (multiple spindles, turrets and live tooling) in an assigned group of machines and maintain productivity and meet production requirements. Set-up, load and run bar feeders for lathes.
Make tooling offsets, machine origins offsets and adjustments to ensure part quality.
Set-up and run other machines as directed.
Utilize drawings, set-up instructions, routers, forms, inspection sheets, and system reports.
Must accurately measure parts to specifications and maintain proper part quality conformance. Reports and records quality issues daily to the quality department.
Performs operator maintenance on machinery (add coolant, change inserts, chip removal, etc)
Maintain housekeeping and safe work environment.
Keeps accurate records of job orders, time spent and parts produced each day.
Work as a team, make suggestions for improvement and communicate within the department to ensure continuity between all shifts/departments.
Other duties as assigned by management

Education, Experience and Skills

A minimum of five years’ experience working as a CNC Set-Up Machinist
Possess a high mechanical aptitude.
Perform duties with minimal supervision.
A post high school degree in CNC Machining or completion of an Apprenticeship Program is preferred.
In addition, the ideal performer will be a motivated self-starter with good interpersonal and technical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively on verbal and written levels.
