Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to support our manufacturing operations by managing the procurement of indirect production materials and maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) supplies. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, purchasing, and maintaining a reliable supply of materials that support production, maintenance, and facility operations while optimizing cost, quality, and delivery.

Responsibilities

Issues RFQ for indirect production-related/MRO items (corrugated, industrial gases, packaging supplies, PPE, shop/stockroom/tool supplies, including but not limited to).
Secure, negotiate quotations, best pricing, delivery lead time, quality, payment terms.
Procure indirect production-related/MRO items (as described above).
Work with stockroom to evaluate and set min/max stocking levels with reorder point. Assist the stockroom team with MRO inventory (as necessary).
Monitor, control, balance on-hand inventory levels associated with items purchased. Ensure continuity of supply.
Maintain accurate purchase cost associated with item assignments.
Expedite outstanding requirements, follow up tardy requirements.
Resolve supplier non-conformance, accounting, invoice, receiving issues.
Manage, maintain strong supplier relationships. Ensure contribution to and compliance with enterprise performance success and ISO 9001 certification.
Identify new and alternate sources of supply.
Cross train, provide additional process support.

Skills

5 years’ work experience, practical with computerized systems (ERP, MRP, procurement software), focused on the purchasing process, indirect production support, MRO support, integration with engineering, inventory control, logistics, planning, sales, warehousing.
Manufacturing work environment preferred.
ISO 9001 work environment preferred.
Offshore versus reshore purchase experience and transition preferred.
B.S. Business Administration preferred.
Creative, think outside of the box problem solving capabilities.
Proficient use of Microsoft 365.
Business savvy verbal and written communication skills.
