Location: Utah County, Utah
Schedule: Part-time, approximately 15–20 hours per week
Pay: $20–$25/hour + commission
Work Style: Hybrid / Local
About the Role
We are a growing Utah dessert catering company looking for a motivated, personable, and highly organized Sales & Business Development Representative to help us grow our corporate, event, wedding, and catering business throughout Utah and Salt Lake Counties and the surrounding area.
This is not a passive order-taking position.
We're looking for someone who enjoys finding new opportunities, reaching out to potential customers, building relationships, following up consistently, and turning conversations into catering orders.
You'll be responsible for developing new business from start to finish: identifying potential customers, finding the right decision-makers, reaching out by phone and email, scheduling meetings and tastings, maintaining our sales pipeline, following up on opportunities, and helping prepare quotes.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in catering sales, hospitality, hotels, event venues, wedding/event sales, restaurant private events, or B2B sales who wants a flexible part-time position with significant opportunity to grow.
What You'll Do
- Identify and research new potential catering customers throughout Utah County and surrounding markets
- Build targeted prospect lists of businesses, organizations, event professionals, venues, and other potential customers
- Find and contact decision-makers such as office managers, executive assistants, HR teams, event planners, venue managers, and business owners
- Conduct outbound prospecting through personalized email, phone calls, LinkedIn, and other appropriate channels
- Generate at least 100 new qualified potential customers per month
- Consistently follow up with prospects and existing opportunities
- Schedule sales calls, meetings, and dessert tastings
- Help coordinate and occasionally deliver samples or attend local tastings and meetings
- Develop relationships with local event planners, wedding planners, venues, hotels, and other referral partners
- Maintain an organized sales pipeline and accurate notes in our CRM
- Follow opportunities from initial outreach through booking
- Prepare or assist with catering quotes and proposals
- Follow up on outstanding quotes and opportunities
- Re-engage previous customers and identify opportunities for repeat business
- Track outreach, meetings, quotes, bookings, and revenue generated
- Work directly with ownership to continuously improve our sales process
Who We're Looking For
You may be a great fit if you are:
- Friendly, confident, and comfortable starting conversations with people you don't know
- Comfortable making outbound phone calls and sending cold emails
- Persistent without being pushy
- Excellent at following up
- Highly organized and able to manage dozens of opportunities simultaneously
- A strong written and verbal communicator
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- Comfortable using a CRM, spreadsheets, email, and basic sales tools
- Able to represent our brand professionally with corporate clients, event professionals, and wedding customers
- Located in or near Utah or Salt Lake County and able to attend occasional in-person meetings, tastings, networking events, and sample drop-offs
Experience We'd Love to See
Experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- Catering sales
- Hotel or hospitality sales
- Wedding or event sales
- Event venues
- Restaurant private-event sales
- Event planning
- B2B sales
- Business development
- SDR/BDR or outbound sales
- Account management
Previous sales experience is helpful, but we're more interested in finding someone who is organized, proactive, personable, persistent, and capable of producing results.
Local relationships within Utah's wedding, event, hospitality, or business community are a major plus.
What Success Looks Like
Initially, we'll measure success based on both activity and results.
A successful person in this role will consistently:
- Identify 100+ new qualified prospects each month
- Build relationships with local businesses and event professionals
- Maintain consistent outbound prospecting and follow-up
- Generate meaningful conversations with prospective customers
- Schedule approximately 4–5 qualified meetings or tastings per week as the pipeline develops
- Generate a consistent flow of catering quotes and proposals
- Maintain a clean and organized sales pipeline
- Convert new relationships into catering orders and repeat customers
Our goal is to build a reliable outbound sales channel capable of generating $30,000–$50,000+ in new monthly catering revenue as the role matures.
Compensation
$20–$25/hour depending on experience, approximately 15-20 hours per week, plus commission.
In addition to hourly compensation, this position will have the opportunity to earn commission on new business generated.
This structure rewards someone who doesn't just generate leads, but develops relationships that turn into real catering revenue and repeat customers.
There is significant opportunity for the position, hours, responsibilities, and compensation to grow based on performance.
Why This Role Is Different
You'll have considerable ownership over the sales process.
We're not looking for someone to simply work through a generic call list. We want someone who can learn our business, understand what makes a great customer, identify opportunities in the local market, build genuine relationships, and help create a repeatable sales engine.
Our best potential customers aren't necessarily people looking for dessert today. They're businesses and professionals who regularly have a reason to serve groups of people.
That includes corporate offices, event planners, wedding planners, venues, hotels, apartment communities, healthcare organizations, schools, universities, real estate companies, financial institutions, dealerships, professional services firms, and other organizations hosting events.
The right person will help us turn those organizations into long-term customers and referral partners.
To Apply
Please submit your resume along with a brief note answering the following:
- Tell us about your previous sales, catering, hospitality, or event experience.
- Are you comfortable reaching out to businesses you've never spoken with before by both phone and email?
- If you were asked to find 20 companies in Utah County that might purchase dessert catering for employee or customer events, how would you approach it?
- Tell us about a time you turned a cold prospect or new relationship into a customer.
- Are you located in Utah County or able to regularly meet with customers and prospects there?
Bonus: If you already have relationships with Utah event planners, wedding planners, venues, hotels, corporate event organizers, or local businesses, we'd love to hear about them.
