Adelbrook’s residential programs provide safe, structured, and therapeutic living environments for children, adolescents, and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Our homes are designed to promote stability, dignity, independence, and emotional well-being through trauma-informed, person-centered care.

The Lead Residential Support Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in ensuring high-quality care, staff support, and program consistency across residential settings. This position helps foster a positive living environment while supporting both individuals served and the staff who care for them.

JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Residential Support Supervisor provides shift-based supervision and day-to-day operational oversight within Adelbrook’s residential programs. This role ensures the delivery of safe, supportive, and therapeutic services while promoting compliance with agency policies, licensing regulations, and best practices in trauma-informed care.

The Supervisor supports direct care staff through coaching, training, and crisis intervention, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and assists with administrative and quality assurance responsibilities. This position leads by example, maintaining a structured, respectful, and person-centered residential environment.

WORK SCHEDULE

Adelbrook is a 24/7 operating agency. Schedules are flexible and may include early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, mandated overtime, mandated holds, and on-call responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to direct care staff across residential shifts
Serve as the administrative point of contact in the absence of residential leadership
Support staff during behavioral crises, utilizing agency-approved de-escalation and intervention techniques
Ensure consistent implementation of individualized behavior support plans and therapeutic interventions
Assist with onboarding and training of new hires, including agency policies, documentation systems, and care plans
Mentor staff through hands-on coaching and modeling of best practices
Promote compliance with required trainings, including CPR, First Aid, PMT, and Medication Administration
Monitor staffing schedules, coverage, and time-off requests to maintain required staffing ratios
Conduct routine walkthroughs of residential homes to ensure safety, cleanliness, and therapeutic quality
Review and ensure timely completion of documentation, including daily logs, incident reports, and medication records
Act as a liaison between residential programs, schools, day programs, clinical teams, and families
Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, behaviorists, and educational staff to support continuity of care
Participate in staff meetings, interdisciplinary reviews, audits, and quality assurance initiatives
Assist with oversight of financial documentation, including activity funds and household expenses
Support agency compliance, accreditation, and safety initiatives
Provide direct care support during staffing shortages or program emergencies as needed
Participate in on-call coverage and mandated overtime as required
Maintain flexibility to support multiple homes or departments based on organizational needs
Maintain active certification in agency-approved crisis intervention training and apply techniques appropriately
Perform other duties as assigned

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Strong leadership, supervision, and staff development skills
Effective written and verbal communication, including documentation and incident reporting
Time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
Ability to coach, mentor, and train staff
Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
Basic computer proficiency, including electronic records and scheduling systems

KNOWLEDGE

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (IDD)
Trauma-informed care and person-centered planning principles
Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS) and behavior support plans
State and local licensing and regulatory requirements (e.g., DDS, DCF, COA)
Crisis intervention and physical management techniques (PMT, CPI, TCI)
Medication administration protocols and documentation standards

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and supervisory experience
Minimum of five years of relevant experience in a residential or human services setting
Supervisory experience strongly preferred
Must meet licensing requirements for supervisory roles
CPR, First Aid, PMT, and Medication Certification required (or ability to obtain and maintain)
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to work flexible schedules and on-call rotations
Must pass background checks and required health screenings

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is performed in residential or community-based settings
May involve crisis response and physical intervention in accordance with training
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist individuals with daily living activities
Ability to remain on feet for extended periods
Exposure to behaviors that may require de-escalation or intervention
Must be able to perform all requirements of Physical Management Training (PMT)
