Full Job Description

Solar Canvassing Manager

Build your own team. Lead the production. Choose whether you want to close.

We are expanding our residential solar field operation throughout New York City, Long Island, and Hudson Valley/Upstate markets through Newburgh, NY.

We are looking for experienced canvassing managers and field leaders who know how to recruit, train, motivate, and retain a productive door-to-door team.

Closing is optional. You can remain focused on managing and developing your team, or receive full training to close appointments generated by you and your representatives.

Compensation

Realistic annual commission range of $150,000–$500,000
1099 independent-contractor opportunity
100% commission-based
No base salary, hourly wage, or guaranteed income
Uncapped earning opportunity
Earn from personal production and eligible team production
Ability to earn additional compensation by closing appointments generated by you or your representatives
Self-generated and team-generated sales can provide up to 10× the per-deal compensation available in traditional company-provided-lead roles, depending on the applicable compensation tier
Eligible leadership, recruiting, and team-production compensation under the applicable written compensation plan
Sign-on bonus opportunity available; eligibility and complete terms will be reviewed during the interview

The stated range reflects differences in team size, completed installations, personal production, team production, and whether the manager chooses to close sales.

How the Role Works

Build your own team: Recruit and develop canvassers who generate qualified homeowner appointments.
Closing is optional: Qualified closers can run your team’s appointments if you prefer to focus on leadership.
Learn to close: Complete sales and closing training is provided for managers who want to close their own appointments or appointments generated by their representatives.
Personal canvassing is optional: Managers with an established, producing team are not required to personally knock doors.
Increase your upside: Managers may canvass, set appointments, and close sales themselves whenever they want to increase personal production.

What You’ll Do

Recruit, train, coach, and retain a productive canvassing team
Create a positive, competitive, and accountable field culture
Conduct field training, coaching, and ride-alongs
Train representatives to identify properly qualified homeowners—not simply generate raw leads
Manage appointment quality, confirmations, and feedback between setters and closers
Coordinate appointments with qualified closers or run the appointments yourself
Plan and allocate territories across available New York markets
Track results from appointments and held sits through sales and completed installations
Coach representatives using individual performance results
Develop future team leaders and top producers
Represent the organization honestly, professionally, and in accordance with all sales and compliance standards

What We’re Looking For

Proven canvassing, door-to-door, or field-sales experience
Experience recruiting, coaching, or managing a field team
Ability to build and retain a productive canvassing organization
Strong face-to-face communication and leadership skills
Self-directed and comfortable in a performance-based environment
Reliable mode of transportation
Smartphone and ability to travel throughout an assigned market
Willingness to provide field support and coaching when needed
Solar experience is preferred, but successful leaders from other door-to-door industries will be considered
Closing experience is not required
Bilingual ability is a plus
