Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our hospice organization. The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for a variety of financial and administrative tasks, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining our financial health and supporting our mission to provide compassionate care to our patients and their families.

Essential Functions:

Review Accounts Payable Invoices:
Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable invoices.
Review & Process Payroll
Prepare Deposits:
Handle deposits for checks and cash received, ensuring proper documentation and recording.
Bill Claims to Insurance Companies:
Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on outstanding accounts.
Prepare Self-Pay Statements:
Generate self-pay statements and manage follow-ups on accounts to ensure timely payments.
Update and Maintain Credentialing Requirements:
Keep credentialing requirements up to date and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Reconcile Bank Statements:
Reconcile bank statements with company records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
Assist with Monthly Reconciliations and Posting Journal Entries:
Support the finance team with monthly reconciliations and posting of journal entries.
Prepare Statistical and Financial Reports:
Compile various statistical and financial reports as needed, ensuring accuracy and clarity.

Qualifications, Education and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Accounting strongly preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Work Requirements

In-office setting.

Physical Requirements

Sitting: ability to sit for extended periods of time while performing desk-based tasks.
Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment.
Vision: Close vision required for reading financial documents and data entry.
Hearing: Ability to hear and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
