Full Job Description

Overview

The Program Director is responsible for the overall development, implementation, and oversight of programs and services offered by the facility. This includes directing day-to-day group home and program operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting resident well-being, and leading a high-performing team of direct care and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operations of the group home and all associated programs to ensure a safe, therapeutic, and well-structured environment.
Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services offered by the facility, including resident assessments, individualized service planning, and progress monitoring.
Monitor quality of care and resident satisfaction on an ongoing basis; implement corrective actions as needed.
Ensure the facility maintains a clean, safe, and home-like environment in compliance with all applicable regulations.
Oversee medication administration practices, ensure staff are trained and certified, and maintain accurate medication administration records (MARs) in accordance with DBHDS standards.
Coordinate with healthcare providers, case managers, families, and external stakeholders to ensure holistic, person-centered care.
Ensure ongoing compliance with all DBHDS licensing standards, DMAS requirements, OHR, and other applicable state and federal regulations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes; implement updates to policies, procedures, and training as required.
Prepare for and participate in DBHDS licensing inspections and other regulatory reviews.
Oversee incident reporting, critical incident management, and required follow-up documentation.
Collaborate with families, healthcare professionals, and community partners to develop and monitor Person-Centered Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
Facilitate and support community integration activities that promote socialization, skill-building, and inclusion.
Serve as a point of contact for emergency support and ensure continuity of care during staffing or operational challenges.
Lead and co-facilitate new employee orientation in collaboration with HR, ensuring staff receive role-specific training and understand facility expectations from day one.
Create, manage, and maintain staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts, including emergency or short-notice coverage during staffing shortages.

Minimum Qualifications:

A masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing AND a combination of two years of professional experience with children in a children's residential facility and in administration or supervision OR
A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or nursing AND a combination of three years of professional experience with children in a children's residential facility and in administration or supervision.
Demonstrated experience supervising direct care staff in a residential setting.
Knowledge of Virginia DBHDS licensing standards and DBHDS reporting requirements.
Experience with medication administration oversight and MAR documentation standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR or LMS systems prefer
Skill in clinical supervision, treatment planning, and program evaluation.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
