RDS Vending is a local, family-owned company that has been serving the Philadelphia Tri-State area since 1989. We are looking for a reliable, motivated Service Technician to join our growing Service & Installation team.
In this position, you will travel to customer locations throughout the Philadelphia Tri-State area to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install vending machines, coffee equipment, Smart Coolers, Micro Markets, and other related equipment.
No vending experience? No problem — we are willing to train the right person. If you are mechanically inclined, comfortable working with tools, dependable, and interested in learning how to troubleshoot and repair equipment, we encourage you to apply.
New hires will receive hands-on, on-the-job training alongside experienced RDS Service Technicians to learn our equipment, repair procedures, installations, and service process.
Previous mechanical, electrical, appliance repair, equipment repair, or similar hands-on experience is a plus, but vending and coffee equipment experience is not required.
What You'll Do
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair vending machines, coffee machines, and related equipment
- Respond to service calls and complete assigned repair tickets
- Inspect machines and equipment to identify the cause of mechanical or operational issues
- Disassemble equipment as needed to access problem areas and properly reassemble equipment after repairs
- Inspect parts for wear, damage, or misalignment
- Replace worn or defective parts and make necessary adjustments
- Test machines after repairs to ensure they are operating properly
- Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation of vending machines, coffee equipment, and other related equipment
- Install and set up new vending machines, coffee equipment, Smart Coolers, and Micro Markets
- Assist with vending machine deliveries and equipment moves when needed
- Communicate professionally with customers while working at client locations
- Respond to customer service concerns and report unresolved issues to the appropriate supervisor
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, replacement parts, and service equipment
- Request additional parts and equipment as needed
- Use hand tools and other equipment necessary to complete repairs and installations
- Use company technology and handheld devices to receive service tickets, provide updates, and track completed work
- Make sure the company vehicle is properly stocked with the parts and equipment needed for scheduled service calls
- Keep the company vehicle clean, safe, and organized
- Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Follow RDS driver and workplace safety procedures at all times
- Assist the Service & Installation team with additional projects as needed
What We're Looking For
- No vending experience required — willing to train the right candidate
- Mechanical, electrical, appliance repair, equipment repair, maintenance, or similar hands-on experience is preferred but not required
- Mechanically inclined and interested in learning how to troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Comfortable using hand tools
- Reliable and punctual
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- At least 2 years of consistent work experience preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Good driving record required
- Comfortable driving a company vehicle throughout the local Tri-State service area
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis
- Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and other handheld technology
- Bilingual English/Spanish candidates are encouraged to apply
Schedule & Pay
- Starting Pay: $22.50 per hour
- Full-time position
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Monday–Friday
- Daily start and end times may vary depending on scheduled service calls and installations

Training
We are willing to train!
You do not need previous vending machine or coffee equipment experience to apply. New Service Technicians will work alongside experienced RDS technicians to learn how to:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems
- Repair vending machines and coffee equipment
- Replace and adjust mechanical components
- Complete preventative maintenance
- Install and set up new equipment
- Properly complete service calls and communicate with customers
- Use RDS service technology and equipment
Candidates with previous mechanical or repair experience are encouraged to apply, but we are also interested in dependable, mechanically inclined individuals who are eager to learn a new trade.
Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates must successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including a physical, drug screening, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
