Full Job Description

iBRAIN is one of the largest brain-injury special education programs in the world based in New York City and is expanding to open its third location in Washington D.C. iBRAIN’s mission is to research, develop and implement special education and related services for students with brain injury and brain-based disorders. Join our team of leading experts in the field of rehabilitation and research, as we continue to expand globally to serve the brain injury and brain-based disorders community in school based and outpatient programs.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary/inter-disciplinary team including each student’s special education teacher and therapy team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, and teachers of the visually impaired

Prepare Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) and quarterly progress reports, and participate in IEP meetings

Participate in research initiatives and quarterly Grand Round Presentations

Employ appropriate assessment tools/metrics to assess students, identify goals and measure progress

Utilize a multi-sensory approach to design lessons that increase students’ communication, social, academic, vocational, self-care and life skills

Properly document all sessions daily on iBRAIN’s electronic database

Communicate with parents and involve them in their child’s activities and progress

Minimum Qualifications:

Must hold a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy and an active license

Possess strong understanding of techniques/strategies for working with students who have moderate-severe brain-based disorders/injuries

Assistive Technology programming experience and knowledge of various AAC devices

A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience working with children with brain-based disorders and neurological involvement preferred

Exceptional interpersonal, problem solving, communication skills, along with the ability to take initiative, and a highly flexible personality type

Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds independently

Must be detail-oriented, focused, highly motivated, and able to work as part of a team

Research experience is preferred

Must be able to pass ALL of the FREE E-learning Short Courses in Clinical Research from The Global Health Training Centre website (https://globalhealthtrainingcentre.tghn.org/elearning/short-courses/)

Job Type: Per Diem / Full-time

Pay: up to $95,000.00 per year based on experience
