Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Scripps Health Inpatient Providers Medical Group is seeking dedicated Advanced Practice Providers (NP/PA) to join our growing Gastroenterology team at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego. This position will work directly with our board-certified Gastroenterologists, to provide optimal care to our patients. The APP will support our GI service line primarily in an inpatient setting, and will also provide close outpatient follow up when necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule

4 shifts weekly in collaboration with a GI Hospitalist
10-Hour Day Shift
Rotating weekend and holiday coverage

Clinical Care Job Duties Will Include:

Provide Inpatient consultation and hospital-based gastroenterology service under supervision of board-certified gastroenterologist;
Obtain detailed medical history and perform comprehensive physical assessment;
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute, chronic and complex gastrointestinal disorders under physician supervision;
Order and interpret appropriate patient data, laboratory results, and diagnostic imaging to determine treatment plans;
Provide pre- and post-procedural care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, including advanced interventions;
Consult with supervising physicians on treatment decisions;
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including Medicine, Trauma, Oncology, Surgical Services;
Facilitate patient cases with Endoscopy suite team; and
Conduct discussions with patients and families regarding upcoming procedures, including preparing and obtaining necessary consents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Licensure

Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or Physician Assistant program required
National Board Certification as an Acute care Nurse Practitioner through American Nurses Credentialing Center or American Association of Nurse Practitioners
Current California NP or PA-C license in good standing
Current DEA Licensure (or ability to obtain)

Experience and Skills

1-2 years Gastroenterology or internal medicine experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred
Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, EPIC experience preferred
Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Pay: $160,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
