Job Description for Litigation Paralegal

New England Property Services Group, LLC is seeking a Litigation Paralegal who can provide meaningful legal, claim, file, and operational support in connection with residential property damage claims, appraisal disputes, insurance claim recovery, litigation support, regulatory matters, and related legal operations.
This is not a traditional law office role. NEPSG is a general contracting and claim recovery company operating in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. We restore residential properties damaged by wind, rain, ice, snow, water overflows, and other covered causes of loss. These losses may involve roofing, siding, interiors, ceilings, flooring, walls, cabinetry, mitigation, remediation, appraisal, litigation, claim documentation, and related insurance issues.

POSITION DETAILS
Title: Litigation Paralegal
Location: In office, Fall River, Massachusetts
Possible future location: Providence, Rhode Island area
Schedule: Full time preferred
Remote work: Limited and only by approval
Travel: Required at times within Massachusetts and Rhode Island
Compensation: Based on experience, skill level, reliability, software proficiency, ability to produce usable work, and overall value to NEPSG
Benefits: Presently, NEPSG does not offer benefits beyond compensation, although that may change as the company grows
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Litigation Paralegal will assist with claim related legal work, litigation support, appraisal matters, insurance claim disputes, file organization, court filings, document preparation, discovery support, deadline tracking, and internal legal operations.
The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a fast moving office environment where legal documents, insurance claim files, project records, photos, estimates, invoices, policies, contracts, pleadings, correspondence, and appraisal materials must be organized accurately and efficiently.
This role requires more than general administrative experience. We are looking for someone who can read instructions carefully, work with detailed records, follow up without constant prompting, draft or assist with legal documents when appropriate, maintain deadlines, and support attorneys, paralegals, ownership, appraisers, and internal staff.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Litigation Paralegal may be asked to perform the following duties, among others:
- Draft routine and complex legal documents for attorney or ownership review.
- Draft pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, discovery responses, interrogatories, answers, correspondence, demand letters, claim letters, and related documents.
- Review, organize, summarize, and track reports, claim materials, pleadings, appraisal documents, policies, estimates, invoices, payments, photographs, and correspondence.
- Assist with deposition preparation, hearing preparation, trial preparation, and witness or document organization.
- Prepare exhibits, document binders, indexes, exhibit lists, timelines, and demonstrative materials.
- Conduct legal research, factual research, regulatory research, and public records research when assigned.
- Assist with Rhode Island and Massachusetts court filings and case tracking.
- Track deadlines, reminders, follow up dates, court dates, appraisal deadlines, claim response deadlines, and internal task assignments.
- Assist with claim file organization, server folder organization, file naming, scanning, and document cataloging.
- Assist with Clio, Outlook, Google Drive, server folders, Adobe PDF, Microsoft Office, and other systems used by NEPSG.
- Assist with communication to attorneys, appraisers, insurers, clients, vendors, opposing counsel, and internal staff when directed.
- Attend court, property inspections, appraisals, meetings, networking events, political events, or business events when requested.
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, accuracy, and discretion at all times.

TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENT
This position requires reliable independent transportation.
Candidates must have access to their own reliable transportation during the workday so they can travel when needed for company related purposes, including court, property inspections, appraisals, client meetings, attorney meetings, office errands, document drop offs, supply pickups, networking events, political events, or other work related needs in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.
Reliance on another person for drop off or pick up transportation may not be sufficient if it limits the candidate’s ability to be fully utilized during work hours.
