Full Job Description

Sharp Transit, the in-house carrier for Aldi Foods, has an opening for a Safety Specialist I at our terminal in Jefferson, GA.

Responsibilities include:

Review and monitor commercial truck drivers Records of Duty Status (RODS) and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) documentation, onboard telematics, and onboard camera recorded incidents. (Netradyne)
Coordinate with terminal management to ensure proper use of ELDs and compliance with Hours-of-Service regulations.
Coach drivers on incidents recorded with onboard telematics and camera recording
Schedule and conduct daily ride-along sessions to ensure driver compliance, and positive safety habits, and identify challenges/trends.
Ride-alongs will require work during non-daytime working hours
Promotes a “Safety Focused” culture throughout the company that incorporates operations, safety, and maintenance departments.
Support the Director of Compliance and Risk in on-going and evolving safety initiatives
Travel up to 25% of the time required
Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent required, undergraduate degree a plus.
Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn DOT/FMCSA regulations and other state regulatory requirements
Knowledge of Electronic Logging Devices with prior experience in Samsara and Netradyne a plus
Proficient in MS Office and Teams
Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels.
Strong written and verbal communication skill
Ability to exercise sound judgment in the handling of sensitive and/or confidential situations and information.
Resourceful, strong problem-solving skills
Takes initiative to mitigate problems, resolve issues, and suggest improvements.
Previously provided safety compliance to a local and non-local workforce; trucking fleets is a plus.
