As a Composite Technician, you will play a vital role in fabricating, repairing, and inspecting composite structures used in spacecraft and other space vehicles. Your expertise will ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and precision are maintained throughout the production process. Composite Technician I
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with and learn from more experienced technicians in areas such as complex mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication.
- Inspect, assemble, integrate, and operationally check flight hardware, as well as assemble, test, and maintain mechanical systems and components to meet specifications and standards.
- Use precision measurement tools, ensure components meet specified tolerances while adhering to general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements.
- Follow 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, and work in restrictive spaces.
- Collaboration with team members to achieve production goals will also be a key part of your responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Typically entry-level 0 - 2 years of experience.
- Familiarity with general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements.
- Ability to perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities and display general mechanical aptitude and hand tools/precision tools competency.
- Ability to learn and perform precision cleaning.
- Ability to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
- Ability to conduct basic verification/troubleshooting of own work.
- Basic understanding of mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated progress towards formal training or education.
- Certifications: IPC & J-STD.
- A&P License.
- Communication skills (Both written and oral).
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or mechanical environment.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.

Composite Technician II
Minimum Qualifications:
- Typically 2+ years of experience in a mechanical or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements.
- Ability to perform intermediate equipment setup and maintenance activities and display mechanical aptitude and hand tools/precision tools competency.
- Proficiency in precision cleaning.
- Knowledge of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
- Ability to conduct verification/troubleshooting of own work.
- Proficient understanding of mechanical assemblies, soldering, harness routing, inspection, in-process testing, precision cleaning, and structural fabrication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: IPC & J-STD.
- A&P License.
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fabricate composite components using advanced techniques such as hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, infusion, and curing processes while adhering to schematics and technical drawings.
- Operate precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other tools to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality control.
- Perform repairs and modifications on composite structures using welding, soldering, and equipment repair skills to maintain structural integrity.
- Read and interpret complex schematics, technical drawings.
- Use power tools, hand tools, heavy lifting equipment, and fabrication machinery safely and efficiently during production or maintenance tasks.
- Proven experience in manufacturing environments involving composite materials, aircraft maintenance, or vehicle repair; military or aviation background is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience operating precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, calipers, ohmmeters, ammeters, and schematics interpretation skills.
- Electrical experience related to avionics or aircraft systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during fabrication or assembly tasks.

- Familiarity with general best shop practices, including PPE and shop safety requirements.
- Ability to perform advanced equipment setup and maintenance activities and display mechanical aptitude and hand tools/precision tools competency.
- Expertise in precision cleaning.
- Knowledge of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: IPC & J-STD.
- A&P License.
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral).
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Advanced understanding of mechanical systems and components.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
