Full Job Description

Job Description: Under the direction of Education to Employment Partners and supported through grant funding from rootEd Alliance, the Postsecondary Success Advisor will work directly with primarily high school seniors, and their parents, to increase post-secondary enrollment and preparation for career success. The Advisor will contribute to program objectives by developing, implementing, and coordinating advising activities to support all students in a designated rural high school and by providing an awareness of post-secondary and career opportunities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the high school College and Career Counselor to support initiatives focused on senior postsecondary readiness and college, career, and military preparedness.
Assist students and families with completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), scholarship applications, and other financial aid forms.
Coordinate scholarship opportunities, communication, tracking, and senior recognition activities.
Assist with the planning and coordination of college and career fairs, FAFSA nights, signing events, career presentations, workshops, and postsecondary awareness activities for students and families.
Facilitate the organization, coordination, and implementation of postsecondary readiness assessments, including the PSAT, SAT, ACT, TSIA2, ASVAB, and other college and career readiness measures.
Support the school and students by monitoring and proctoring postsecondary exams, as needed.
Meet with parents and/or families to provide information, identify needs, and assist in overcoming barriers to postsecondary success.
Refer students to campus and community support services, as needed.
Collect, input, and analyze data; prepare scheduled and specialized reports; and maintain program records and statistical information utilizing designated software and related programs.
Utilize social media, text messaging platforms, newsletters, and other communication tools to share information, resources, deadlines, and opportunities with students and families.
Attend meetings and work collaboratively with faculty, staff, community members, other program advisors, and program staff to ensure a positive experience for all students.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or above

At least three years of experience in working with students

Familiarity with Coastal Bend education institutions and career opportunities

Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Proficient knowledge and ability to use Google Drive and Microsoft Office applications

Familiarity with using CRM databases such as Salesforce and/or Datatel (and/or willingness to attend trainings on programs and platforms

Clear background check

Ability to speak Spanish is preferred, but not required

Willing to travel some for school related trips or conferences and occasional evening events

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $24.00 - $26.50 per hour
