Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and manage state and federal government contracts from award through completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in government contracting, project execution, compliance management, stakeholder coordination, budgeting, and reporting. This role requires the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring compliance with contract requirements, agency regulations, and company objectives. This role includes traveling to projects throughout the East Coast, specifically Florida and North Carolina, etc.

Responsibilities

Contract & Project Management
Manage state and federal contract projects throughout the entire project lifecycle.
Develop project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
Monitor project performance against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
Ensure all contractual obligations are met in accordance with government regulations.
Coordinate project kickoffs, status meetings, and project closeouts.

Government Compliance & Reporting

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local contracting requirements.
Maintain documentation required by government agencies and auditors.
Prepare and submit progress reports, performance reports, and contract deliverables.
Monitor contract modifications, amendments, and change orders.

Stakeholder Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for government agencies and contracting officers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Coordinate with procurement, finance, operations, and executive leadership.

Financial Management

Track project budgets and expenditures.
Monitor contract funding and invoicing.
Identify risks that may impact profitability or performance.
Support proposal development and cost estimating for future opportunities.

Risk & Quality Management

Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure deliverables meet contractual quality standards.
Manage issue resolution and escalation processes.

Experience

5+ years of project management experience.
3+ years managing state and/or federal government contracts.
Demonstrated experience working with government agencies, contracting officers, and subcontractors.
Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with budgets exceeding $500,000+ (adjust as needed).

Knowledge & Skills

Thorough understanding of government contracting processes and regulations.
Experience with contract administration and compliance.
Strong budgeting, scheduling, and reporting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency with project management software (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Asana, Monday.com, etc.).
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.
Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM).
Experience with: VSACE, NAVFAC, Department of Defense, State and Local Government Agencies.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in navigating government contracting environments. They can effectively manage multiple stakeholders, maintain compliance with complex regulations, and deliver projects on schedule and within budget while fostering positive client relationships.

5+ years project management experience
3+ years managing state or federal contracts
PMP certification (preferred)
Knowledge of FAR and government procurement processes
Experience with contract values of $1–$20M+ depending on your contract size

Pay: $115,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
